Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Volunteer Treasurer to join our organization’s leadership team. In this vital role, you will oversee the financial health of our organization by managing accounts, preparing budgets, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Your expertise will help guide strategic decision-making, support sustainable growth, and uphold fiscal responsibility.

This position offers a unique chance to contribute your financial skills to a meaningful cause while gaining valuable leadership experience in the nonprofit or community sector.

Responsibilities

- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing and reconciliation.
- Prepare and monitor budgets to align with organizational goals, tracking expenses and income diligently.
- Oversee bookkeeping activities, including ledger management and account reconciliation, to ensure financial integrity.
- Collaborate with other board members and staff on financial planning, business development initiatives, and investment opportunities.
- Manage cost control measures and advise on financial implications of organizational decisions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial services regulations and maintain transparency through detailed reporting.
- Must be able to attend monthly General Meetings,



the yearly Annual General Meeting and the occasional Board meeting (max 3 per year)
- Must participate as an active member of the board by voting and solving problems in a collaborative environment.

Experience

- Proven experience in accounting, corporate finance, or related financial services roles.
- Strong background in bookkeeping, budgeting, account reconciliation, and cost management.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to guide teams and influence organizational strategy.
- Knowledge of risk analysis and risk management practices within a nonprofit or similar environment is preferred.
- Familiarity with investment processes and financial software tools is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and effectively.
- Prior volunteer or board-level experience in a financial capacity is a plus but not required.
- Must be able to pass a criminal record check
- Must be able to provide references that demonstrate relevant experience
