Beryl Education is a growing Vancouver-based tutoring service providing personalized, one-on-one academic support to elementary and secondary students.

We are expanding our language programs and are looking for experienced French and Spanish tutors who can independently plan and deliver engaging, structured lessons tailored to each student's needs.

Language tutors will work primarily with elementary and secondary students in one-on-one sessions.

Depending on the student, instruction may focus on:

- Speaking and conversational confidence
- Listening comprehension
- Reading comprehension
- Writing
- Grammar and vocabulary
- Pronunciation
- School coursework and assignments
- Core French or French Immersion support
- Secondary-level Spanish coursework

Tutors are expected to take an active role in planning each student's instruction. This includes:
- Preparing structured lessons based on the student's level and goals
- Providing and using appropriate instructional materials and resources
- Creating or selecting practice activities
- Assigning appropriate homework or practice between sessions when beneficial
- Monitoring student progress and adjusting instruction accordingly
- Communicating relevant progress, strengths, and areas for improvement

Sessions are generally 90 minutes and take place in students' homes or, when appropriate, at libraries and other agreed-upon locations. Tutors may teach French, Spanish, or both languages.





Ideal candidates will have

- Strong written and spoken proficiency in French and/or Spanish
- Previous teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or instructional experience
- The ability to independently plan and structure language lessons
- Access to or the ability to develop appropriate teaching materials and practice activities
- The confidence to assign and review student work between sessions
- The ability to explain language concepts clearly and adapt instruction to different learning needs
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliability, professionalism, and consistency
- Availability during after-school hours, evenings, and/or weekends
- The ability to travel to students for in-person sessions in Vancouver and surrounding areas
- A commitment to working consistently with assigned students

The following are considered solid assets:
- BC teaching certification
- Current enrolment in or completion of a Bachelor of Education program
- Experience teaching French Immersion, Core French, or secondary Spanish
- A university degree or coursework in French, Spanish, education, linguistics, or a related field
- Experience working with elementary or secondary students
- Experience supporting students with diverse learning needs
- Native or near-native proficiency in French and/or Spanish

Pay: $40.00 per hour
