The Role
The Vice President, Business Operations & Growth is first and foremost a people leader who inspires alignment, develops high-performing leaders, and creates the structure and accountability necessary for the business to scale. Combining strategic thinking with operational excellence, this individual will drive organizational execution and cross-functional performance across the company.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Founder Partnership
- Serve as a trusted strategic partner to the Founders, translating long-term vision into operational execution and measurable business outcomes.
- Act as an organizational integrator, ensuring strategic decisions translate into clear priorities, accountability, and execution across the business.
- Help prioritize competing initiatives, remove barriers to execution, and ensure alignment across the leadership team.
- Bring fresh ideas, thoughtful perspective, and sound business judgment while being comfortable respectfully challenging ideas and recommendations when appropriate.
- Build scalable structure while preserving the entrepreneurial culture, agility, and pace that define Lisa Gozlan.
Organizational Leadership & Execution
- Drive alignment across Product, Brand, Growth, Retail Operations & Sales, Customer Experience & Communications, and Finance.
- Establish and lead company-wide planning, goal-setting, and accountability processes.
- Create clear operating rhythms, decision-making frameworks, workback schedules, and reporting structures that support effective cross-functional execution.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives and ensure the timely execution of key strategic priorities.
- Identify organizational bottlenecks and implement practical, scalable solutions.
- Ensure departments operate against shared business priorities rather than in functional silos.
Provide direct leadership and support to the company's six organizational pillars:
- Product
- Brand
- Growth
- Retail
- Customer Experience & Communications
- Finance
Responsibilities include
- Coach and develop department leaders to strengthen performance, leadership capability, and decision-making.
- Establish clear expectations and create meaningful accountability across the leadership team.
- Empower functional leaders to own their areas of expertise while providing the direction, coaching, and challenge necessary to drive business performance.
- Address performance or execution gaps proactively and support leaders in developing solutions.
- Support organizational planning, workforce growth,
leadership development, and succession planning.
- Foster collaboration across departments while maintaining a high-performance culture.
Operational Excellence
- Develop systems, processes, and operating frameworks that support sustainable growth.
- Improve communication, coordination, and execution across departments.
- Build meaningful reporting frameworks, dashboards, and KPIs that provide visibility into business performance.
- Create operational rigor while maintaining the flexibility required in a fast-moving, founder-led organization.
- Evaluate and implement technology, automation, and operational improvements that increase efficiency and scalability.
Financial Planning & Business Performance
- Partner with Finance to strengthen forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Monitor organizational performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, efficiency, and resource allocation.
- Support inventory planning and operational decision-making through data-driven analysis.
- Translate operational and financial information into actionable recommendations for the Founders and leadership team.
- Evaluate investments and competing business priorities using commercial impact, ROI, operational requirements, and long‑term strategic value.
Business Growth & Strategic Initiatives
- Partner with the Founders and leadership team to identify and evaluate opportunities for continued business growth.
- Evaluate opportunities across retail, e‑commerce, wholesale, partnerships, and new markets, balancing commercial potential, customer demand, operational readiness, investment requirements, and long‑term brand strategy.
- Support the continued expansion of the business across Canada, the United States, and international markets.
- Develop thoughtful approaches to testing new markets, channels, and opportunities before significant investment.
- Lead high‑impact strategic initiatives from concept through execution while balancing speed, quality, commercial return, and long‑term sustainability.
Organizational Development
- Partner with Human Resources and senior leadership on workforce planning, succession planning, and leadership development.
- Evaluate organizational structures and recommend improvements that support continued growth.
- Champion change‑management initiatives as the organization evolves.
- Help build and sustain a culture rooted in accountability, ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive leadership experience, with demonstrated success leading complex, cross‑functional teams and initiatives.
- Experience at the Director, Senior Director, Vice President, or comparable executive leadership level, with demonstrated experience leading senior leaders and/or complex cross‑functional teams.
- An exceptional people leader with the ability to coach, develop, challenge, and inspire high‑performing leaders and teams.
- Experience within a high‑growth, founder‑led, consumer products, retail, e‑commerce, omnichannel, or similarly entrepreneurial organization.
- Demonstrated experience translating business strategy into execution across multiple functions.
- Strong commercial, financial, and operational acumen.
- Experience building systems, processes, teams, and organizational structures that support growth and scalability.
- Solid executive presence and emotional intelligence, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at every level.
- A builder's mindset with a passion for developing people, creating structure, challenging the status quo, and solving problems.
- Comfortable operating in an environment where priorities can evolve quickly and strategic thinking must be balanced with hands‑on execution.
- Comfortable leading functional experts without needing to be the subject‑matter expert in every area of the business.
- Experience within luxury retail, high‑end consumer brands, jewelry, fashion, or a similarly elevated customer‑focused environment is strongly preferred.
