Job Summary

Cowgirl Media is a growing content company focused on creating short-form and long-form content across a variety of formats and platforms. We work with local businesses to create everything from social-first video and photography to longer brand stories, always built around strong ideas, sharp visuals and getting the shot.

Our work can take us anywhere from dusty job sites and show homes to community attractions and polished brand shoots.

We are looking for a Video Production & Social Media Assistant to support our videographer on set and help keep everything organized behind the scenes. Some days you’ll have a camera in your hand. Other days you’ll be working remotely, sorting footage, organizing client folders and scheduling content.

You do not need years of industry experience. We care about solid camera basics, a steady hand, positive creative instincts and a willingness to learn. You should be someone who shows up, pays attention and is ready to pitch in wherever the shoot needs you.

You will receive hands-on, on-the-job training from an experienced videographer while building practical skills in camera operation, lighting, audio and professional content production.

This is a paid, part-time hybrid position. In-person shoots take place throughout Spruce Grove, Stony Plain, Edmonton and surrounding areas. File organization and social media scheduling may be completed remotely.

What You’ll Do

- Assist our videographer during client shoots
- Operate a Sony or Canon camera to capture secondary angles, B-roll and behind-the-scenes footage
- Help set up, monitor and pack camera, lighting and audio equipment




- Follow shot lists and keep track of the footage we need to capture
- Check focus, exposure, framing, white balance and audio while filming
- Keep shoots moving by staying organized and anticipating what is needed next
- Organize, label, upload and back up video files after each shoot
- Maintain clean, easy-to-navigate client folders
- Schedule approved content across Instagram, Facebook and other social platforms
- Double-check captions, tags, covers and posting dates before content goes live
- Help track scheduled, completed and outstanding content
- Assist with basic content preparation or minor edits when needed
- Bring fresh ideas to content planning and production

What You’ll Need

- Hands-on experience operating a DSLR or mirrorless camera
- Familiarity with Sony or Canon camera systems
- A basic understanding of ISO, aperture, shutter speed, frame rate, focus, white balance and composition
- A good eye for framing, movement and the small details that make footage feel polished
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to keep footage, equipment and deadlines in order
- A sharp eye for detail, both behind the camera and when reviewing content
- A collaborative attitude and the ability to work well with videographers, clients and other team members
- Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook and TikTok




- Comfort using Google Drive or another cloud-based file-management system
- The ability to take direction and stay calm when a shoot gets busy
- A dependable, professional and easygoing attitude around clients
- A valid driver’s licence and reliable transportation
- Willingness to travel to different shoot locations throughout the Edmonton area
- Availability for a mix of weekday, evening and occasional weekend shoots
- The ability to safely carry and move production equipment

Nice to Have

- Experience with Sony Alpha or Canon EOS cameras
- Basic editing skills in DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or CapCut
- Experience with Meta Business Suite or another social media scheduling tool
- Experience with Canva, Lightroom or Photoshop
- Knowledge of microphones, lighting equipment or gimbals
- Previous experience assisting on commercial, branded or social media shoots
- Your own suitable camera equipment

Owning a camera is a bonus, but it is not required. Cowgirl Media can provide the equipment needed for assigned shoots.

This role would be a great fit for a film, media, photography or marketing student, a recent graduate, or a self-taught creator ready to gain more hands-on production experience.

A degree is not required. We would much rather see what you can do, so please include a portfolio, social media account or a few examples of your photo or video work with your application.

Pay: $15.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
