About Axis BC

Axis BC is a North Vancouver-based commercial building envelope contractor. We do waterproofing, membrane restoration, concrete repair, rope access work, leak investigations and building envelope inspections for strata corporations, property managers and commercial clients across the Lower Mainland. We're a small, growing company with a hands-on ownership team and a working foreman on every job. We're adding two waterproofing specialists to our crew as our maintenance and restoration work grows.

What you'll do

- Prepare concrete surfaces for waterproofing: grinding, shot blasting, scarifying, pressure washing, crack chasing and routing, patching and levelling
- Remove failed coatings and membranes and get substrates to the profile and moisture condition the manufacturer calls for
- Apply liquid-applied and sheet waterproofing membranes on parkades, plaza decks, balconies, roofs, planters and below-grade walls (Sika, Soprema, Tremco, Cemprotec and similar systems)
- Install sealants, expansion joints, flashings, drains and details, and do concrete patch and crack injection repairs
- Set up and maintain a safe, clean site: fall protection, barricades, dust control, containment and daily cleanup
- Take before-and-after photos and keep basic daily notes for the foreman
- Load, drive and look after company tools, equipment and materials
- Work alongside our field lead and follow manufacturer specs and our scope of work on every job

What we're looking for

- 1 to 2 years of hands-on experience in waterproofing, concrete restoration, coatings, roofing or a closely related trade
- Concrete surface preparation experience is a must: you've run grinders, shot blasters or scarifiers and you understand why prep makes or breaks a membrane
- Some exposure to liquid-applied or sheet membranes, sealants or coatings.



We'll train you up on the systems we use
- Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather, on your knees, on ladders and at heights
- Reliable, on time, and takes pride in clean, finished work
- Valid BC driver's licence (required). You'll be driving to sites and sometimes a company vehicle
- Legally entitled to work in Canada and living in the Lower Mainland
- Fall protection, WHMIS and first aid tickets are a plus; we'll get you certified if you don't have them

Nice to have: rope access (IRATA/SPRAT) or a willingness to get certified; experience with traffic-deck coatings, crack injection or hot-rubber; forklift or aerial-lift tickets.

What we offer

- $28 to $35 per hour depending on experience
- Full-time, year-round work. Subcontractor arrangement preferred: you invoice us hourly plus GST and carry your own WorkSafeBC coverage. We'll also consider payroll employment for the right candidate
- Paid training and manufacturer certification on the systems we install
- A transparent path to lead hand and foreman roles as we add crews
- Small company where the owners know your name and the foreman works beside you
- Company tools and equipment supplied

Work location Job sites across Metro Vancouver: North Shore, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Tri-Cities and Surrey. Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week, with occasional early starts or weekends when a job needs it.
