W&O; Custom Metalworks is a growing custom metal fabrication company specializing in high-end residential and commercial architectural metalwork.

Our projects are rarely repetitive. One week you may be installing a custom aluminum railing or staircase, and the next you could be working on a steel and glass door, architectural feature, hood fan, gate, window well cover, planter, or another completely custom project.

We work primarily with aluminum, mild steel, and stainless steel, taking projects from raw material through fabrication, welding, finishing, assembly, and installation.

We are a small, close-knit team, and we’re looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator who wants to become an important part of that team.

About the Role

This is not a production welding position.

We are looking for someone who can take a drawing, measurements, or project concept and help turn it into a clean, finished product.

The ideal candidate is confident with MIG and TIG welding, understands fabrication and fit-up, can read drawings, and takes pride in the details that separate average fabrication from high-quality custom work.

Because much of our work is architectural and installed in finished homes and commercial spaces, appearance matters just as much as strength. Weld quality, fit-up, straightness, grinding, finishing, symmetry, and overall presentation are all important.

You should be comfortable working on different projects regularly and solving problems as they come up.

What You’ll Be Working On

Our projects include

- Steel, aluminum, and glass doors
- Architectural steel and glass features
- Custom gates and privacy screens
- Hood fans and decorative metalwork
- Window well covers and egress systems
- Aluminum and Corten planters
- Stainless steel fabrication
- Custom residential and commercial projects
- One-off projects that require creative fabrication and problem-solving

Most of our work is custom, so being able to adapt and think through a project is extremely important.

Key Responsibilities

- MIG and TIG weld aluminum, mild steel,



and stainless steel.
- Fabricate projects accurately from drawings, dimensions, templates, and specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and technical drawings.
- Measure, cut, drill, bend, fit, tack, weld, and assemble custom components.
- Produce clean fit-ups and control distortion during fabrication.
- Grind and finish welds to a high architectural standard.
- Prepare fabricated products for powder coating, finishing, glass, hardware, or final assembly.
- Use saws, grinders, drills, plasma cutters, press brakes, and other fabrication equipment.
- Assist with final assembly and installation of completed projects.
- Identify fabrication challenges and help develop practical solutions.
- Inspect your own work for dimensions, fit, finish, and overall quality before it leaves the shop.
- Safely handle finished products where scratches, dents, or damage are unacceptable.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe workspace.
- Work closely with the rest of our team to keep projects moving through the shop.

What We’re Looking For We’re looking for someone who is a fabricator first—not just someone who can run a welder.

You should have

- Strong hands-on MIG and TIG welding experience.
- Experience fabricating aluminum and mild steel.
- Stainless steel experience is an asset.
- Strong blueprint and shop-drawing reading skills.
- Experience with custom or architectural metal fabrication.
- Solid measuring, layout, fit-up, and fabrication skills.
- Experience grinding and finishing visible architectural metalwork.
- Good understanding of heat control and distortion.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
- High attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently without sacrificing quality.




- The ability to work well within a small team.
- A willingness to work on different types of projects rather than repetitive production work.

Forklift, crane, rigging, site installation, and construction experience are all considered assets. The Type of Person Who Will Fit In Here

We care a lot about the finished product.

A weld can be structurally sound and still not meet our standard.

We’re looking for someone who notices when something isn’t straight, when a gap isn’t consistent, when a weld needs more attention, or when a finished surface simply doesn’t look right—and takes the initiative to correct it.

We also want someone who enjoys the challenge of custom fabrication. Not every project comes with a step-by-step instruction sheet. Sometimes you’ll need to look at a drawing, think through the best way to build it, and work with the team to figure out the details.
