The Produce Clerk is responsible for providing exceptional customer service while maintaining a fresh, attractive, clean and well-stocked Produce Department. This position supports the preparation, rotation, stocking and merchandising of produce while ensuring food safety, quality and department standards are consistently maintained.

Here’s where you will be focusing:

- Provide exceptional and attentive customer service.
- Stock, rotate and merchandise fresh produce according to established standards.
- Inspect product regularly and remove items that do not meet freshness or quality standards.
- Maintain attractive, full and properly signed displays throughout the department.
- Receive, organize and properly store incoming product.
- Follow proper product rotation and date-checking procedures to minimize shrink and ensure freshness.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of displays, cases, work areas, coolers and equipment.
- Complete required temperature checks, cleaning duties and food safety procedures.
- Assist with preparing and packaging produce items as required.
- Use knives, carts, pallet jacks and other department equipment safely and efficiently.
- Follow all workplace safety, food safety and hygiene standards.




- Assist customers with product selection and general inquiries.
- Work collaboratively with other Produce Department employees and store teams.
- Perform any other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

- Previous grocery, produce or retail experience is an asset, but not required.
- You are customer service-oriented and enjoy working with the public.
- You demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills.
- You are dependable, organized and able to work independently when required.
- You are comfortable working in a quick-paced environment and managing changing priorities.
- You are available to work a variety of shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Knowledge of food safety, product rotation and fresh food handling is an asset.

Effort and working conditions:

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling.
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
- Regular handling of boxes, produce cases and department equipment.
- Exposure to refrigerated and cooler environments.
- Short-term exposure to cleaning products and chemicals.
- Flexible work hours and ability to work overtime when required.
