We’re proud of our work helping to expand and improve Canada’s infrastructure and transportation networks, and we’re ready to build the future of our country.The Student Estimator will have the opportunity to support the civil east team in their process of offering proposals and working with the estimating team.This is an 8‑month co‑op opportunity.What You’ll Do HereBeing mentored by Senior and Chief Estimators in bidding projects including construction approachPursuing various projects including a combination of private client proposals, design‑build and bid‑build projects ranging from roads, bridges, elevated guideways, airports, hydro power dams and many other heavy civil projectsWorking with the estimating team on proposal preparationQuantity takeoff and updating estimate software with quantitiesDatabase analysisSubcontractor/Vendor solicitationSubcontractor/Vendor Quote comparisons & analysisEntering quotes into estimate softwareAssisting with project executionAssisting in design‑build process and working with design teamsPreparing portions of estimates utilizing Hard Dollar Estimating softwarePreparing portions of schedules utilizing Primavera P6 softwarePreparation of handover documents to site team for successful bidsWhat You Bring To The TeamCurrently enrolled in a university or technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction ManagementA valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstractProven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignmentsAttention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills and accuracyAbility to build positive working relationships with internal and external clientsService orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environmentBasic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; database and P6 knowledge an assetCompensationThe expected pay range for this role is $23 - $28 per hour. Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions.
