Our Chalk River Laboratories location is looking for a Radiobiology and Bioinformatics Research Student to support innovative research in radiation biology, multi‑omics analysis, benchmark dose modelling, and systems biology. All students applying for student positions at CNL must be returning to full‑time studies upon completion of their work term. Exceptions will be made for students who require a work term to graduate.

Number of Positions: 1
Duration: 4 Months (January - April), with the ability to extend to an 8-12 month term
Field of Study: Cellular and Molecular Medicine (CMM), Biochemistry, Microbiology and Immunology (BMI), or Cell and Molecular Biology
Year of study: 2nd year or higher

What you will be doing!

- Conducting experiments both under supervision and independently, following detailed instructions.
- Utilizing laboratory equipment and software for sample preparation and data analysis.
- Maintaining meticulous records of experiments and generating detailed reports using MS Office tools.
- Preparing essential chemical solutions and laboratory reagents.
- Assisting in the processing, analysis, and integration of transcriptomic and proteomic datasets.
- Performing bioinformatic analyses using R and other computational tools.
- Supporting the development of dose‑response models, including BMD modelling workflows.
- Contributing to AOP framework development by identifying molecular pathways and linking multi‑omics signals to biological outcomes.
- Preparing figures, summary reports,



and data visualizations for internal presentations and potential publications.
- Participating in team meetings, presenting progress updates, and documenting analysis workflows.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

- Education
- Applicants should be in Biology, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biotechnology, Systems Biology, Toxicology, or related life sciences or computational sciences.
- Upper‑year undergraduate students, Master’s students, or early‑stage Ph.D. students are encouraged to apply.

- Experience

- Experience in research laboratories is preferred.
- Experience with R, Python, or other statistical/computational software.
- Previous coursework or experience in omics analysis, statistics, machine learning, or bioinformatics is an asset.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Ability to work with large datasets, maintain organized documentation, and follow reproducible research practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment.
- Motivation to learn new tools and approaches in multi‑omics and data‑driven biological research.

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required

- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty‑seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
