Reporting to the Health Information Management Supervisor, the Registration, Switchboard, & Patient Information (RSPI) Clerk supports Patient Registration, Switchboard, Finance, and Health Record functions. The role involves maintaining the integrity of health records by retrieving, preparing, scanning paper records into the Electronic Clinical Information System, auditing scanned records, handling telephone requests for access and disclosure, interviewing and registering patients using Connect Care, collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information, applying patient identification wristbands, providing wayfinding, creating unique lifetime identifiers for non‑residents of Alberta, operating the switchboard, directing calls, opening and closing the office courteously, monitoring security cameras, providing information to care providers, and performing financial duties such as receiving payments and assisting residents with trust accounts.ResponsibilitiesMaintain integrity of health records through retrieval, preparation, scanning, and auditing of paper records to the Electronic Clinical Information System.Handle telephone requests for access and disclosure in accordance with department, zone and legislative requirements.Interview and register patients using the Connect Care system, collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and financial information and completing necessary forms.Apply patient identification wristbands, provide wayfinding, and create unique lifetime identifiers for non‑residents of Alberta.Operate the switchboard, direct calls,
take messages, and open or close the office as appropriate.Monitor security cameras and code phones/alerts as required.Provide information to internal and external care providers on request.Perform financial duties such as receiving payments, providing safekeeping, and assisting residents with trust accounts.Required QualificationsCompletion of Grade 12 or equivalent.Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.Medical Terminology Certificate or equivalent (testing will be conducted).Fluency in written and spoken English.Accurate and proficient keyboarding skills of a minimum of 40 words per minute (testing will be conducted).Preferred QualificationsMOA, Unit Clerk Course or equivalent.Experience in Patient Registration, Financial Records, and/or Telecommunication.Compensation & BenefitsMinimum salary: $25.72 per hour; maximum salary: $31.25 per hour. A Northern Allowance up to $6,300 per year is available, and a travel expense reimbursement of up to $1,235 per year is provided for employees working above the 57th parallel.Security ScreeningA satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to the first day of work.
