Accountable to the Resource Manager – Coastal Support but responsive to the Coastal Engineering Services Manager, the role supports the Service Delivery and Engineering teams with corrective maintenance, engineering changes, certification management and planned maintenance changes related to various electrical issues. The incumbent also frequently liaises with ship's staff and Fleet Maintenance Facilities (FMF) work centers. This role is hybrid in Halifax, NS and the candidate is expected to spend the majority of their on‑site time in the dockyard.Regulatory Compliance RequirementThis position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR). and Supportability teams with identification and assessment of alternate partsSupport the LCMM and Supportability teams with assessment of obsolescence issuesSupport the LCMM and Engineering teams with activities such as development and implementation of engineering changes, creation of deviations & waivers or surveys on board the ships while alongsideMinimum RequirementsThree‑year diploma program in an electrical field offered by a recognized technical instituteIndustrial Electrician Canadian Red Seal or Military QL5 certification in an approved electrical tradeMinimum of five years of demonstrated technical professional work experience in the marine/offshore sector within the last ten yearsStrong working knowledge in the maintenance, operation, design and/or troubleshooting of a wide range of marine electrical systemsStrong communication skills (oral and written)Team playerFluent in EnglishWorking knowledge of Microsoft OfficePreferred QualificationsPrevious experience working with the Royal Canadian Navy / Canadian Coast GuardFamiliarity with certification requirements including but not limited to Classification Society, SOLAS/IMO, IEEE, CSA, Naval Ship Code, and DND regulations is an assetDRMIS experience is an assetPhysical DemandsMix of office work and work in dockyards and on board naval ships; will be required to undertake inspections in machinery spaces of naval ships involving bending and twisting; willing to work aloft and in confined spaces on board ships (training to be provided).Special Position RequirementsSchedule: 40 hours per week.Work Location: Hybrid – required to work from the Halifax dockyard (almost 100% of the time when a ship is alongside) and home/Thales office when no ships are alongside.Travel: Occasional domestic or international travel may be required in support of the ships or the AJISS/MWAV enterprise.CompensationThe Total Target Compensation (TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is TTC $85,000–$105,000–$120,000 CAD annually. This reflects how companies in a similar industry and geographic region generally pay for similar jobs.
