Requirements and Nature of Work
English follows La revue Histoire sociale / Social History est à la recherche d’une adjointe ou d’un adjoint à la rédaction pour assister avec des tâches administratives reliées à la publication d’une revue savante. La candidate ou le candidat travaillerá sous la direction de la directrice générale et sera responsable pour la gestion du processus de publication des études critiques et comptes réndus de la revue. Les tâches incluront principalement, mais ne seront pas limitées à :
- Gérer le compte de messagerie-courriel
- Communiquer avec les auteurs, les responsables des comptes réndus et les maisons d’éditions
- Commander des ouvrages récents auprès des maisons d’édition
- Enregistrer les livres recevés dans une base de données et mettre à jour les dossiers courants
- Maintenir un index à jour des études critiques et comptes réndus
- Poster les ouvrages à faire recenser aux auteurs
- Suivre les directives des responsables des comptes réndus afin de préparer les recensions pour publication
- Effectuer les révisions d’épreuves des comptes réndus
- Finaliser et envoyer les ententes relatives aux droits d’auteurs
- Organiser l’envoi des exemplaires de la revue
- Classer et archiver des documents administratifs générales
- Créer et maintenir une archive digitale
- Contribuer à la mise à jour et à l’amélioration continue du site web
À la demande de la directrice, il ou elle entreprendra d’autres tâches administratives, dans la limite des heures prévues au contrat. La préférence sera accordée aux candidats bilingues enregistrés dans le programme d’étude supérieure en histoire. English Version of Duties
-------------- Histoire sociale / Social History is looking for an Editorial Assistant to help with administrative tasks related to the publication of an academic journal. The candidate will answer to the Executive Director and will be responsible for the management of the publishing process of the Review Essays and Book Reviews. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Managing emails
- Communicating with authors, Book Review Editors, and publishers
- Ordering recent books for review
- Recording books received in a spreadsheet and maintaining the appropriate files
- Maintaining an index of books received and keeping it updated
- Shipping books for review to authors
- Following the directives as provided by the Book Review Editors in order to prepare the Book Reviews for publication
- Revising page proofs of the Book Reviews before publication
- Finalising and sending Copyright agreements to authors
- Assisting with the shipment of the journal
- Filing and archiving general administrative documents
- Creating and maintaining a digital archive
- Updating the journal’s website
As requested by the Executive Director, the Assistant may be asked to undertake other administrative tasks within the hours allocated by the contract. Preference will be given to bilingual candidates who are registered in a Graduate program in the History department.
