assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities. EAs work as members of the school and student support team. EAs either work with a particular special needs student or a group of students within a class or in a special program. EAs may provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.Duties Will Include- working with students individually or in small groups- working with students with disabilities- lifts, transfers, and personal care of students may be requiredEducation/Experience- Requirement: High School Diploma- Candidates having the following qualifications would be considered an asset:- training or experience working with students with disabilities- behaviour management training- courses related to working with students with special needs- excellent interpersonal skills- the ability to work with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher- the ability to provide personal care for students- Emergency First Aid and CPR- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training- Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable educationAll newly hired Classified Substitutes will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, which includes a vulnerable sector check, dated within six (6) months from offer of employment with EIPS - obtained from local RCMP or Police Department.
