About the Role

Our client, a reputable catering service operating in Kimberley , requires a diligent and hardworking Kitchen Porter / Steward to maintain cleanliness and organization within the kitchen environment. This role is fundamental to ensuring a safe and efficient working space for the culinary team. You will be responsible for dishwashing, general cleaning of kitchen areas, waste disposal, and assisting chefs with basic preparation tasks. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically fit, and committed to upholding the highest standards of hygiene and sanitation, playing a crucial part in the smooth operation of the kitchen for all events in the Northern Cape.

Key Responsibilities

- Wash and sanitize all dishes, cookware, utensils, and equipment used in the kitchen.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work surfaces, floors, and storage areas.
- Assist with waste removal and manage refuse disposal according to company procedures.
- Unpack and store deliveries of kitchen supplies and ingredients as directed.




- Support chefs with basic food preparation tasks, such as washing vegetables or peeling ingredients.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and hygiene regulations in the kitchen.

Requirements

- Previous experience in a similar role (kitchen porter, steward, cleaner) is advantageous but not essential.
- Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a robust work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Understanding of basic hygiene and sanitation principles.
- Willingness to learn and perform various kitchen support duties.
