Women In Need Society (WINS) is seeking a Temporary Sort Associate to join our Donation Centre team. Reporting to the Manager - Sort, the Sort Associate is responsible for ensuring the effective management of donations from individual and retail donors by sorting, grading, distributing, recycling, and storing of donated goods daily. The Sort Associate enhances WINS’ contribution to the community by providing excellent support to customers (through Twice New and More Store by WINS), donors, and volunteers at the WINS Donation Centre.

This temporary position will run until December 12, 2026, with approximately 32 hours per week. Candidates must be available to work on both Saturdays and Sundays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Sorting & Storing

- Efficiently & consistently sortand grade previously rough-sorted donations to determine the quality and most appropriatepath for each item (ex: for thrift stores, Twice New e-commerce, More Store byWINS, seasonal, recycle, or disposal)
- Refine sorted goods into specific product categories (ex: style, item type, etc.) and load into bins for holding/storage
- Share expertise as required with other staff and volunteers regarding the quality of donations (grading)

Recycle

- Recognize product suitable for recycling,salvaging all possible product to divert it from landfill, reduce WINS’environmental imprint’ and build WINS recycle revenue

Retail &E-commerce;

- Supply the More Store by WINS withproduct from the sort area; remove dated product from the More Store divert toit to recycle
- Process sales transactions aspoint of sale (POS) in an accurate and efficient manner
- Provide friendly, positive, professionalservice to customers of the More Store by WINS
- Support Twice New e-commerce withensuring suitable product availability from donations

Teamwork

- Act as an ambassador for WINS bothon and off the job
- Maintain excellent donor, employee,and volunteer relations through positive, kind, and professional interactionswith others




- Engage and support individual andcorporate group volunteers to ensure that their experience is fun and rewarding
- Maintain ongoing communicationwith management on any issues or concerns

Health &Safety; and Industrial Hygiene

- Positively engage in and complywith all WINS health & safety practices, procedures, and policies
- Maintain a safe working area for allemployees, volunteers, clients, and customers by ensuring workstations andaisles are clean, tidy, and clear of clutter
- Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Education

- Grade 12 education, or equivalentcombination of education and experience

Experience

Personal/ Professional Attribute

- Eligible to legally work in Canada
- An understanding of and affinityfor the WINS brand, mission, and role with our clients, customers, volunteers,donors, and community
- Solid organization skills with theability to prioritize and multitask in a rapid-paced environment
- Effective communication skillsincluding proficiency in verbal and written English
- Basic numeracy is required to keepcounts and operate point of sale equipment
- A welcoming and empathetic demeanorwith an ability to build and maintain positive relationships with otheremployees and individual & corporate volunteers
- Flexibility to comply with a work schedulewith shifts throughout the week
- Able to stand for long periods oftime
- Able to correctly and safely lifta minimum of 50lbs/23kg individually, and 100lbs/45kg as part of a team
- Work-ready with CSA approvedsteel-toed safety boots
