Our Chalk River location is looking for a 2027 Winter Student Program- Fire Protection Specialist to work alongside experienced fire protection professionals, contributing to code compliance assessments, fire safety system oversight, inspections, documentation reviews, and multidisciplinary projects.

Year of study: 1st Year or higher

What you will be doing!

- Assessing compliance with building and fire codes.
- Providing oversight of site fire safety, including active and passive fire safety systems.
- Providing subject matter expertise to other groups seeking support from fire protection.
- Writing and reviewing fire safety documentation, plans, and specifications for compliance.
- Conducting project inspections and walkdowns.
- Participating on multi-disciplinary teams related to construction and renovation and providing input on how the work affects fire protection.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

- Education
- Actively enrolled in a diploma program in fire protection engineering technology or a Bachelor of Science or engineering discipline.

- Experience

- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel required.

- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

- Knowledge of principles of fire safety, fire dynamics, active/passive fire protection systems, etc.




- Understanding of relevant codes and standards considered an asset.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.

- Security Clearance Eligibility Required

- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security".

Working Conditions:

- Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
