Underground and subsea cable technology are, in particular, increasingly becoming a major player in this energy paradigm shift to enable large-scale and long-distance power transmission.Duties for this position include but are not limited toDevelop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design and design review, estimation, site supervision and support as required.Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.Prepare specifications power cable route specifications, and reports and progress reportsConfirm correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects,Attend and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractorsSupport factory inspections Test (FAT).Perform technical calculations including cable size, rating calculations, electromechanical and thermomechanical forces and EMF calculations, heath induced voltage calculationsPerform design reviews, and verification of design.Confirm that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works.

Master’s degree is preferred.Minimum 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.Ability to work with cable design software such as CYMCAP.Knowledge of applicable industry standards such as IEC, IEEE and CIGRE.Experience working with major global cable OEMs.Ability and willingness to travel within North America.Ideally, You’ll Also HaveExperience with HVDC and subsea cable technologiesProfessional Engineer (PE or PEng) License or ability to obtain within 6 monthsActive/ongoing involvement in power cable related working groups and standards committees such as ICC or CIGRE#epjobs #naepjobs #XcelWe value collaboration and believe that in-person interactions are crucial for both our culture and client delivery.
