Overview
TheCity of Lethbridge Recreation & Culture department is acceptingapplications for up to three (3) seasonal term positions of Recreation Operatorto work at various City of Lethbridge arenas.

STATUS: Seasonal

HOURS OF WORK: 0-40 hours per week; day,evening, and weekend shift work required

POSITIONS: up to 3 positions available

PAY RATE: $41.35 per hour

In this role, you will:

Maintaina safe, clean, and functional facility for various user groups.
Performgeneral janitorial duties including cleaning floors, bathrooms, showers,lobbies, and bleacher areas as required.
Maintaina thorough knowledge and understanding of all building mechanical systems.
Ensuremaintenance records, files and documentation are maintained accurately.
Addresspublic inquiries and concerns while ensuring that facility rules are followed.
Maintainartificial ice surfaces and refrigeration equipment.
Assiststaff in equipment diagnosis and provide technical support.
Completeminor facility and equipment repairs as required.
Performscheduled, preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance.
Performroutine safety and maintenance checks of facilities and equipment includingpumps, HVAC units, and furnaces.
Maintainpositive relationships with contractors, community groups, and buildingpatrons.
Assistwith setting up special events for user groups as required.

Qualifications & Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent.




Valid class 5 driver’s license is required.
Level IArena Operator certification is required.
Knowledge of City of Lethbridge facilitypolicies and rules is an asset.
Level II Arena Operator certification is anasset.
Valid First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
Operational experience with ice resurfacingequipment.
Experience with general custodial work andequipment including floor scrubbers, hand tools, and equipment used for repairsand facility maintenance.
Strong mechanical aptitude to complete routineservice checks, troubleshoot issues and perform minor repairs on equipment.
Ability to work on a team or independently withlimited supervision.
Positive communication skills with the ability todeal tactfully and diplomatically with the public.
Ability to carry out duties based upon oraland/or written instructions.
Strong customer service skills with the abilityto communicate well with other team members to ensure continuity of qualitypublic service.

AdditionalInformation:

Successful candidates must be physically able toperform duties in an environment where temperatures and noise levels canfluctuate.

Within the preceding three years any Criminal Code or Provincial drivingconviction including:
Impaired Driving related offence
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Criminal Flight from a Peace Officer
Fail to Remain at the Scene of an Accident
Drive while Disqualified/Prohibited
Careless Driving
