Position Summary:

As the learning leader responsible for the overall quality of curriculum, teaching and learning, this role leads and manages the Performing Arts department by:

Ensuring the Learning and Teaching Principles and Practices are at the forefront of the learning environment.

Ensuring that teaching and learning promote curiosity and the love of the subject

Developing processes and procedures to ensure that the quality of learning and achievement is monitored, evaluated and shared.

Using student and cohort data to improve learning and teaching

Monitoring the quality and consistency of student assessment feedback and reporting

Ensuring that the PreK-12 curriculum is fully articulated in terms of content, skills and concepts, and accurately recorded

Directing the team’s focus on the teaching and assessment of ATL skills





Supporting the performing arts team, including faculty and support staff

Enriching student learning through appropriate trips and visits, co-curricular activities, and other special events

Providing guidance and mentorship for new teachers, and ongoing support for other team members

Fostering and facilitating professional learning opportunities for team members

Working with the Principal to oversee the annual Teacher Skilled Growth Plan (TPGP) for team members

Managing the departmental budget to ensure resources are used effectively to enhance student learning

Attending coordinator, strand and divisional planning meetings throughout the year to ensure collaboration with other curriculum leaders
