Job Description

General Merchandise Associate FT is kind of a customer-first retail role with Walmart Canada in Okotoks, and yes it’s very much about being helpful and keeping things moving.

The main idea is to deliver great customer service while also making sure the general merchandise sales floor is clean, in order, stocked, and ready for customers to find stuff without hassle.

You’ll help with product selection, figuring out where things should go (merchandise location), stocking, recovery, zoning, and a bunch of other day-to-day store operations.

Responsibilities

Make sure you give them friendly, professional service like you mean it.

Help them decide on the right product, and if they really need it, guide them around too, so they can find what they want.

Also, talk up the items and services, and be there to support their choice during the purchase, even if it feels a bit busy.

Resolve customer concerns, or refer them to the right person when needed.

Provide sales floor coverage,



and help with Front End coverage when required.

Talk with other associates so floor coverage stays effective.

Zone assigned areas so the sales floor stays clean and organized.

Move feature merchandise to the right modular location, even when it’s busy.

Process recovery merchandise from the Customer Service desk and other areas Stock merchandise, and complete downstocking as required.

Apply product protection when needed, when it makes sense for the situation.

Set and complete modulars, including flex modulars, and new shelf caps too.

Maintain a safe, clean and hazard free work environment, no exceptions Follow.

Walmart policies procedures and safety requirements.

Work a variety of shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays too, depending on what the business needs at the moment.

Handle a fast paced workload and finish stocking and recovery tasks accurately, and on time.

Requirements

Strong customer-service and communication skills.

You know, helpful, flexible, upbeat, and kind of team minded too.

Solid listening ability and strong people skills, the interpersonal part.

Can work well in a busy, fast moving retail setting where things change quickly.

Can handle multiple responsibilities at once, and sort priorities without getting stuck.

Keeps things right and exact, with good focus on the little details while stocking, zoning, and arranging merchandise.

You can stay on your feet for a long time, and keep doing the same physical tasks over again, like no big deal.

You can bend and lift inventory, equipment, or supplies up to 20 lbs, and sometimes up to 50 lbs.

You’re also ready for any shift arrangement— morning or afternoon, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays whenever they need you.

You follow the company rules, for safety and cleanliness, and you stick to the compliance procedures too.
