Senior Canadian Privacy Attorney – Data Privacy & Cross-Border Transfers

Consilio Canada is seeking an experienced Senior Privacy Attorney with sophisticated Canadian privacy and data protection experience to support a high-profile legal engagement.

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience advising organizations on Canadian privacy requirements, complex data protection matters, and cross-border data transfers involving Canada and other jurisdictions, including the United States.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide senior-level legal counsel regarding Canadian privacy and data protection requirements
- Advise on cross-border data transfers, data-sharing arrangements, and related privacy considerations
- Analyze privacy implications associated with transferring, accessing, processing, and storing personal information across jurisdictions
- Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data protection provisions in commercial agreements
- Advise stakeholders on privacy compliance, risk mitigation, data governance, and information-management practices
- Assess privacy issues involving vendors, service providers, and third-party data-processing relationships




- Provide practical guidance regarding evolving Canadian privacy requirements and regulatory developments
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, information security, and business stakeholders on complex privacy matters

Required Qualifications

- Law degree and authorization to practice law in a Canadian jurisdiction
- Senior-level legal experience with a substantial focus on privacy, data protection, and information governance
- Solid knowledge of Canadian privacy laws and regulatory requirements, including PIPEDA and applicable provincial privacy legislation
- Demonstrated experience advising on cross-border data transfers and international data-sharing considerations
- Experience drafting and negotiating privacy, data protection, data-processing, and information-security contractual provisions
- Ability to independently manage sophisticated privacy matters and provide practical, business-focused legal advice
- Excellent legal research, analytical, drafting, and communication skills

Experience with international privacy frameworks, including matters involving the GDPR and U.S. privacy requirements, is highly desirable.
