What You Will Be Doing

Dust, washes, and polishes office and classroom furnishings, cleans and disinfects washroom facilities. Replenishes basic classroom and washroom supplies;

Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors as appropriate, empty waste baskets and remove trash. Maintain floors through surface cleaning, spray buffing and polishing. Maintain carpets, including performing minor repairs;

May be required to shovel snow and control ice problems as required. Perform basic grounds maintenance as required. Operate equipment required for the above tasks; and

May be required to perform minor repairs to buildings and equipment as appropriate.

The incumbent may be required to provide a criminal record check.

Required Skills
What you will need to be considered:

High school diploma or equivalent; and

One (1) year of experience working as a building caretaker.

The successful candidate will be able to manage their time effectively, work both alone and in a team, be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy. The incumbent will have the ability to perform and develop good cleaning methods with knowledge of chemicals and protected workplace practices.

Please note this position qualifies under Northern College’s protocol for hiring in remote regions.

Candidates with relevant experience and who do not meet the education requirements may be given consideration based on relevant equivalent qualifications.
