Position Summary

Senior Project Manager, FF&E;, Planning & Redevelopment North York General (NYG) is embarking on the largest redevelopment and expansion in its history. A New Patient Care Tower (NPCT) will be constructed on the 4001 Leslie Street site, expanding the existing hospital. The NPCT will be delivered through an Alliance model – the first healthcare alliance in Ontario - in which NYG works as a single integrated team with its design, construction, and technical partners.

This collaborative approach requires strong leadership to ensure the hospital’s priorities are consistently reflected while advancing solutions that support best-for-project outcomes. As a Senior Project Manager, Furniture, Fixtures & Equipment (FF&E;) you will play a pivotal role in advancing this project. The Senior Project

Manager, FF&E; provides oversight and project leadership over the Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E;) scope through the planning, design coordination, procurement, delivery, installation, activation and close-out. Working closely with a multi-disciplinary team of passionate and collaborative professionals, consultants, patients and other stakeholders to ensure projects are successfully delivered.

The Senior Project

Manager will act as the project lead for FF&E; planning and implementation activities and as NYG's liaison with the Alliance team and internal departments. The role will coordinate user engagement and owner decision-making; coordinate the master FF&E; list, budget, schedule, risks and reporting; coordinate project requirements with existing equipment inventories, corporate standards,



asset renewal priorities and identified redeployment opportunities; and coordinate and oversee FF&E-related; procurement, installation, testing, training and occupancy readiness activities. Depending on the nature and stage of the project, additional specific skills or expertise may be required.

The Senior Project

Manager, FF&E; coordinates team members including other project managers, stakeholders, internal and external consultants, contractors and vendors. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy setting for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.

On a practical level, you will

- Provide strategic project leadership and direct the work of project teams for FF&E; planning and implementation activities and coordinate the work hospital staff, consultants, procurement partners, contractors and vendors.
- Ensure project deliverables and milestones are achieved, on-budget and on-time, and holding regular communications to review milestones, risks, progress and lessons learned.
- Coordinate the FF&E; user engagement and governance process, facilitate timely decisions and approvals, confirm clinical and operational requirements, and maintain effective communication with all user groups and stakeholders.
- Manage and report on FF&E; scope, budget, schedule, risks, milestones, including financial reporting in collaboration with Finance.
- Provide owner-side oversight of the FF&E; design coordination, coordinate FF&E; procurement strategy development and procurement activities with internal and external procurement partners.
- Coordinate and oversee FF&E; related delivery, installation, testing, training, and commissioning work allowing the project to transition to hospital operations.
- Develop and manage the implementation of change management plans and other strategies that will support project success.
- Review and assess project feasibility and provide recommendations on budget, scope and schedule.
- Lead project close out and post-occupancy evaluation, including performance measures and lessons learned.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, architecture, interior design, project management or construction management with equivalent combination of education and experience required




- Master’s degree or professional designation in a relevant field is preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is required (or working towards it).
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience or combined functional/project management experience is required, with a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering large, complex projects, with multiple stakeholders and leading large multidisciplinary teams.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience of project management must be in capital planning and redevelopment.

- Experience in one or more of the following: healthcare furniture and equipment planning, planning and programming, healthcare architectural design, construction project delivery, or operational readiness and transition planning.
- Experience coordinating major FF&E; programs, equipment inventories, standards, asset renewal or redevelopment project would be considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of applicable legislation, regulations and standards relevant to healthcare infrastructure.
- Ability to apply project management processes, anticipate risks, problem solve and communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively to senior management and stakeholders.
- Ability to mentor and influence results through coaching, group facilitation and conflict resolution.
- Understand and communicate technical issues clearly, both verbally and through written communications.
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate and analyze risks and issues, explore alternatives, develop appropriate recommendations with project team.
- Bilingualism in French/English considered an asset.
