Halifax Public Libraries invites INTERNAL and EXTERNAL applications for the full-time, permanent position of IT Support Specialist within the Information Technology Department located at Halifax North Memorial Public Library .

This is a unionized position.

If you require accommodation, we will confidentially address your needs. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The Information Technology Department works closely with library branches and departments to provide relevant, reliable and timely service.

We support access to the library collection through the Integrated Library System, and provide public and staff access to PCs, laptops, iMacs, iPads, Wi-Fi, printing, and gaming.

We support productivity software, educational and entertainment applications. KEY RESPONSIBILITES This position will be assigned a Mobile Device Management focus area.

This includes: Administer and maintain mobile devices using Microsoft Intune and Apple Business Manager.

Configure, deploy and support iOS, Android and Windows mobile devices.

Manage device enrollment, provisioning, decommissioning and lifecycle activities.

Troubleshoot device-related hardware, software, connectivity and application issues.

As an IT Support Specialist ,



at Halifax Public Libraries, you will: Manage Microsoft 365 ecosystem and ensure all mobile and desktop devices are secure and optimized through MDM solutions.

Manage Apple ecosystem using Apple Business Manager (ABM).

Use Microsoft Intune to manage MacOS, iPadOS, iOS and Android enrolment.

Configuration profiles

Compliance Handle the day-to-day management of the Microsoft 365 tenant.

Manage user accounts Create and oversee Exchange online mailboxes

Configure permissions for Teams and Share

Point Provide support for Windows and macOS devices.

Deploy software applications.

Provide network support as necessary.

Research, evaluate and implement recent hardware and software.

Travel to library sites to provide on-site support, installation and maintenance.

Perform routine maintenance including patches and backups.

Participate in or lead special projects, as assigned.

Manage multiple priorities at one time.

Assume responsibility for the department and will be on call on a rotational basis.

Serve as a technical resource for projects, committees and internal teams. DO YOU HAVE WHAT IT TAKES? Education and Experience: Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science,



or other another equivalent degree and three (3) years of related experience. (OR) Two (2) years of related Post-Secondary and four (4) years of related experience.

Requirements: Demonstrated ability to provide technical support for PC hardware, software, sevicers, networks and internet applications including the area of focus.

Valid drivers license and acceptable drivers abstract.

Assets: Samsung Knox Admin Portal and remote software deployment.

Help-desk experience WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Effort Lifting and moving of heavy weight or awkward objects

Frequent manual dexterity required for use of basic office and technology equipment (i.e. computers)Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching and reaching Sensory Attention Focus and attention to details (e.g. computer use, reading or inputting data, report writing, reading)Considerable computer use more than 50% of the time Mental Pressures Handling upset customers and customers who present behavioural challenges

Focus and attention to details (e.g. learning new technology skills, resolving staff IT issues)Deals with emergency situations. TRAVEL The job will require occasional travel between our various library branches and community sites within the Halifax Regional Municipality.

Access to reliable transportation is necessary.
