Job Summary

The role is responsible for integrating various technologies into the CN Information and Technology (Technology) systems. The role is accountable for producing detailed designs, defining test plans, executing tests, deploying the technology, enabling the support team, and providing third-level support as required. Furthermore, the incumbent extends and evolves CN's network, platforms, and systems in answer to new business requirements. The role may specialize in a particular technology domain, such as onboard systems, GIS, telecommunications, business portfolios or enterprise systems for example.

Main Responsibilities

Design and Implementation

- Create detailed solution designs and document lab test results.
- Ensure that designed solutions adhere to all CN requirements.
- Provide guidance on required deployment activities and implementation tasks.
- Define, estimate, and communicate integration activities to Project Managers and stakeholders.
- Follow Change Control and Release Management processes while executing cutover plans.
- Collaborate with project teams to identify integration dependencies, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Testing and Documentation
- Develop comprehensive testing strategies for proposed solutions.
- Create detailed test plans and document test results for newly defined solutions.
- Conduct automated and manual lab testing and accurately record results.
- Preconfigure, test, and validate all infrastructure required for deployment, while documenting outcomes and maintaining test records.
- Facilitate a seamless transition from Core to Operations by updating documentation, supporting system integration activities, and delivering training materials and presentations that enable operational readiness and long-term supportability.
- Identify, document, and communicate defects to internal stakeholders and external suppliers for resolution.
- Investigate defects through root-cause analysis and recommend remediation solutions.




- Create and maintain technical documentation for deployed solutions.
- Support Assessment and Qualification (AandQ) activities by providing labor and material estimates in response to operational requests.
- Apply and ensure compliance with CN Technology standards, including Security, Architecture, and Project Delivery Methodologies (Waterfall and Agile).

Engagement and Collaboration
- Engage with project teams to review and validate requirements.
- Mentor and support fellow integrators by helping resolve issues and proactively addressing potential risks.
- Collaborate with external providers and business stakeholders to evaluate technical issues, assess impacts, and identify effective solutions.
- Partner with Project Managers during planning phases to identify integration activities, dependencies, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Communicate deployment plans and outcomes effectively to Operational Support teams.
- Coordinate and support the execution of testing campaigns with cross-functional Technology teams.

Working Conditions

The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek from Monday to Friday and is eligible to participate in CN's hybrid work model. The role involves managing priorities and delivering work within established timelines, with support from the team to ensure sustainable and effective workload management. The role requires occasional business travel in accordance with CN's policy for meetings with suppliers and to visit field sites for deployment activities.

Experience

- Minimum 1 year of overall work experience
- Proven experience delivering technology projects involving complex hardware/software systems and advanced telecommunications technologies
- Proven experience in designing and developing test automation solutions
- Provent experience in solution integration
- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar lifecycle management tool *
- Previous railroad experience*
- Previous experience in system engineering context *
- Experience using AI-assisted tools and analytics to support system integration, validation, testing, and troubleshooting activities.
- Candidates with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered
