BC Hydro is located at Chilliwack Lineroom. The company is currently looking for applications for the role of Field Service Representative. We are seeking a self-disciplined individual with exceptional interpersonal skills. The chosen applicant will be required to join and begin their duties as soon as possible.
The role is offered on a casual, part-time basis for 14 months.

- The candidate will be responsible for reading meters at customer sites, manually entering customer meter data or downloading smart meter data with an optical probe and handheld tablet, and collecting and recording registered meter readings in written or electronic form.
- The candidate will be responsible for planning daily field work orders based on location and established priorities, contacting customers in advance as indicated on work orders, interacting with customers in office, documenting safety, access, meter, and site issues, and following Check In/Check Out procedures each day.
- The candidate will be responsible for carrying out on-site meter disconnects for electrical service and performing smart meter electrical service disconnection and reconnection through an optical probe and handheld tablet.
- The candidate will be responsible for hand delivering various customer notices, rescheduling disconnections, and delivering 48-hour payment warnings in accordance with defined on-site conditions and procedures.
- The candidate will be responsible for conducting visual checks and investigations to complete Investigation Orders involving switched meters, damaged or faulty meters, etc.
- The candidate will be responsible for initiating and/or completing Service Order work,
such as following up on billing irregularities for all types of accounts, while contacting and interacting with customers on-site to investigate and resolve billing inquiries, meter connectivity issues, and address changes and update accounts for billing purposes.
- The candidate will be responsible for tracking and reporting various metrics, including time to complete activities, mileage, administration time, etc.
- The candidate may provide Field Service Rep training and shadowing to new staff.
- The candidate will be responsible for performing minor duties related to the above duties that do not affect the rating of the job.
Job Requirements
- The candidate must have a college diploma or certificate in Office Administration, Business Administration, or a related field, experience in customer service or a related field, and a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
OR
- The candidate must have a high school diploma, several years of experience in customer service or a related field, and a valid BC Driver’s Licence.
- The candidate must successfully complete the in-house Field Service Representative training program.
- The candidate must hold a Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing.
Security and safety
- The candidate will be required to successfully complete pre-employment alcohol and drug testing as a condition of employment for this safety-sensitive position.
Work conditions
- The candidate will be required to work 20–30 hours per week as part of this casual role.
- The candidate must be prepared for occasional overnight travel as part of supporting Boston Bar in this role.
