Certified Utility Arborist

Urban Tree Care Ltd. is looking for an experienced Certified Utility Arborist (CUA) to join our utility vegetation management team.

Wage: $40–$50/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Monday to Friday, with overtime and emergency callouts as required

About the Position

As a Certified Utility Arborist, you will perform vegetation management work around energized electrical infrastructure while working as part of a professional, safety-focused crew.

This position is ideal for an experienced utility arborist who takes pride in protected, efficient work and is comfortable performing pruning, removals and vegetation management in the utility environment.

Responsibilities

- Perform tree pruning and removals around energized electrical conductors
- Complete utility vegetation management work in accordance with applicable regulations, standards and safe work practices
- Identify electrical hazards and establish appropriate limits of approach
- Operate chainsaws, pole saws, aerial lifts, chippers and other arboricultural equipment
- Perform climbing and aerial lift work as required
- Assist with rigging, lowering and removal operations
- Conduct job-site hazard assessments and participate in daily tailboard meetings
- Maintain secure work zones and traffic control as required
- Inspect and maintain vehicles, tools and equipment
- Communicate effectively with crew members, supervisors, customers and utility representatives
- Respond to emergency and storm-related vegetation work when required
- Maintain a high standard of safety, productivity and workmanship

Qualifications





- Valid Certified Utility Arborist qualification
- Previous utility vegetation management experience
- Strong knowledge of electrical hazards and safe work procedures around energized conductors
- Valid driver's licence
- Experience operating chainsaws, chippers and aerial lift equipment
- Robust understanding of tree pruning and removal techniques
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable, safety-focused and able to work independently when required
- Class 3 driver's licence with air brake endorsement is an asset
- ISA Certified Arborist certification is an asset
- Previous climbing and rigging experience is an asset
