Position Summary

The Director of Operations is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and execution of NRT's transportation and logistics operations. Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Operations provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable service delivery while supporting NRT's Indigenous ownership values, client commitments, and long-term growth objectives.

The Director of Operations leads all fleet, dispatch, maintenance, field operations, and operational support functions, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, financial targets, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

- Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with NRT's business plan and growth objectives.
- Provide operational insights and recommendations to the President and Leadership Team.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, service quality, and profitability.

Operations Management

- Direct all transportation, dispatch, logistics, and field operations.




- Ensure optimal utilization of fleet, equipment, and personnel resources.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as required.
- Oversee scheduling, and operational planning.
- Ensure service delivery meets contractual obligations and customer expectations.

Fleet & Asset Management

- Oversee fleet maintenance and equipment management programs.
- Ensure vehicle and equipment reliability, availability, and compliance.
- Support in capital planning, equipment replacement strategies, and asset utilization.
- Support procurement and vendor management activities.

Financial Performance

- Develop and manage operational budgets and cost-control initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve margins and operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with Finance to monitor operational performance and financial results.
- Support forecasting, budgeting, and capital expenditure planning.

People Leadership

- Lead, mentor, and develop operations leaders and frontline management teams.
- Foster a safety first, high-performance, accountable, and cooperative culture.
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, succession planning, and employee development.

Client & Stakeholder Relations

- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, Indigenous partners, community stakeholders, and industry partners.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and timely resolution of operational issues.
- Support business development efforts through operational expertise and customer engagement.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics, Transportation, or related field.
- Relevant professional certifications are considered an asset.

· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.





Experience

- Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, logistics, trucking, mining support services, or related industries.

· Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role with direct responsibility for multi-site operations.

- Experience managing large fleets, multi-site operations, and complex logistics environments.
- Proven track record of improving operational performance and profitability.

· Experience working with Indigenous-owned businesses or Indigenous communities is considered a significant asset.

Knowledge & Skills

- Strong understanding of transportation regulations and safety requirements.
- Strong understanding of mining industry in Canada is highly desirable.
- Strategic planning and execution capabilities.
- Financial acumen with experience managing budgets and operational performance.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-management abilities.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations is highly desirable.

Success Measures

The Director of Operations will be evaluated on:

- EBITDA & EBIT contributions and operating margins
- Fleet utilization and productivity

· Revenue per truck/day

- On-Time delivery performance
- Customer satisfaction and retention
- Workforce and Driver engagement and retention
- Cost management and efficiency improvements

· Budget adherence and cost management

Location: Saskatoon, SK (with travel as required up to 25% of the time)
Reports To: President
Direct Reports: Operations Managers and Fleet Maintenance Manager

Pay: $125,000.00-$150,000.00 per year
