The Academy of Scholastic Achievement is hiring a teacher for online one-on-one ESL classes.

The successful applicant will be a passionate and motivated educator with a strong desire to help students improve.

The successful applicant will be a proficient English speaker. Non-native English speakers are invited to apply, but must have proof of their proficiency in the language (IELTS, CELPIP etc).

The successful applicant will have a 4 year bachelor degree from an English speaking country in a relevant field (Humanities, social sciences, etc).

The successful applicant will have a TESL certification (or equivalent) from a reputable institution.

The successful applicant will have a minimum of two years of ESL teaching experience (to adults) in Canada.

The successful applicant will be available for a minimum of two hours a day between 9 AM and 5 PM Pacific Standard Time (PST).

The successful applicant will have a working knowledge of the Canadian Language Benchmarks.

The successful applicant will have a reliable and stable internet connection, a up-to-date computer with a working webcam/speakers, access to a distraction-free environment,



and an aptitude for using various web-based educational and communication tools.

ASSETS

- Experience teaching adult literacy and phonetics
- Experience teaching Canadian immigrants
- Experience teaching computer literacy
- A proficiency in one of the following languages: Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin, Arabic, Spanish

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Deliver communicative lessons to beginner and intermediate students in a one-on-one setting
- Identify student weaknesses and develop future lessons to address weaknesses
- Develop and deliver assessments according to the Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
- Write monthly progress reports detailing student accomplishments and struggles

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $26.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 40 per week
