Part-Time In-Home Tutor – Mathematics & Science

NMA Education is seeking experienced, knowledgeable, and dedicated Part-Time In-Home Tutors to join our growing team in Edmonton. We are looking for qualified educators who are passionate about teaching and can provide high-quality, personalized, one-on-one academic support to students in their homes.

The ideal candidate will be confident teaching multiple subjects and grade levels, particularly Mathematics and Science, and will have a strong understanding of the Alberta curriculum. Tutors are expected to provide structured instruction tailored to each student’s individual academic needs and learning style.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide high-quality one-on-one, in-home tutoring to students.

* Teach multiple subjects and grade levels, particularly Mathematics and Science.

* Plan and deliver structured lessons aligned with the Alberta curriculum and each student’s individual needs.

* Assess students’ strengths, learning gaps, and areas requiring additional support.

* Explain concepts clearly and adapt teaching strategies according to each student’s learning style and ability.

* Prepare appropriate practice questions, worksheets, and learning materials.

* Assign and review homework to reinforce concepts taught during tutoring sessions.

* Assist students with schoolwork, assignments, quizzes, tests, and examination preparation.

* Monitor student progress and adjust lesson plans and teaching strategies as required.

* Encourage students to develop confidence, problem-solving skills, effective study habits, and independent learning skills.

* Provide appropriate updates regarding student progress and areas requiring further attention.

* Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, parents, and NMA Education.

* Arrive prepared, punctual,



and organized for every scheduled session.

* Maintain a positive, patient, encouraging, and professional learning environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Bachelor’s degree required.

* Minimum of 1 year of teaching or professional tutoring experience required.

* Valid Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check required.

* Strong knowledge of the Alberta curriculum.

* Ability to teach multiple subjects and grade levels, particularly Mathematics and Science.

* Experience working with children and teenagers.

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

* Patient, soft-spoken, approachable, and professional when working with students and families.

* Ability to plan lessons, identify learning gaps, assign and review homework, and monitor student progress.

* Reliable, punctual, organized, and committed to scheduled sessions.

* Must have a valid driver’s licence, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to travel to students’ homes throughout Edmonton.

* Alberta Teaching Certificate is an asset.

* Experience teaching or tutoring IB (International Baccalaureate) and/or AP (Advanced Placement) courses is an asset.

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 2.0 – 12.0 per week
