The Vitanova Foundation, operating as Vitanova Addiction Recovery Centre, is a not-for-profit corporation and registered Canadian charity (BN 124239054 RR0001) accredited by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation. Since 1987, Vitanova has provided client-centred, trauma-informed, recovery-oriented addiction treatment and recovery services to individuals, families and the community in Vaughan, Ontario, through collaborative, inter-agency, team-based care that meets clients where they are in their recovery.

Position Overview:

The Addiction Support Worker is key in supporting clients within our bed-based program, ensuring a safe, secure, and supportive environment. This position involves direct client supervision, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, and assistance with daily living activities. The role also includes administrative responsibilities, participation in team meetings and decision-making processes, and supporting program delivery as required. Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team — including peer support workers, addiction counsellors, and community outreach staff — the Addiction Support Worker contributes to fostering a therapeutic environment that promotes wellness, dignity, and respect.

Reporting Relationship:
This position reports to the Program Managers and works in close partnership with a committed team of internal staff and external community partners to deliver high-quality, client-centred care.

As an Addiction Support Worker – Evening Team, you will…

- Supervise clients within the bed-based program, ensuring safety, security,



and adherence to program guidelines.
- Focus on preventing, de-escalating, navigating and stabilizing crisis situations including supporting individuals experiencing social and physical harms associated with chronic substance use, ongoing suicidal ideation and other harmful emotional or behavioral situations.
- Perform administrative duties and general household tasks to support program operations.
- Responsible for daily care and supervision of a workplace dog as part of assigned duties.
- Participate actively in team meetings, decision-making, and collaborative care planning.
- Assist with the delivery of client programming and recreational activities.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and timely documentation as required.
- Adhere to all organizational and developmental policies and procedures, and any related legislated standards and guidelines

Qualifications:

- Prior experience working in mental health and addiction and/ or home care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medication administration procedures and medical terminology is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
- Certificate,



Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, and/or related field would be an asset
- Member in positive standing with a College recognized by the Psychotherapy Act, 2007 (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Services Workers, College of Psychologists of Ontario, College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario, Ontario College of Nurses) if applicable
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in a social service setting.
- Knowledge of addiction treatment frameworks
- Knowledge of community services and resources.
- Self-directed and independent, but also experienced in working effectively as a member of a team which includes internal and external stakeholders
- Applied computer skills (Microsoft Office, Client Information Systems, Web browsing)
- Valid Driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is require

Special Requirements:

- Criminal background check.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
