Woodward & Co. Lawyers LLP is a national law firm dedicated to providing excellent legal services to Indigenous communities, governments, and organizations. We are seeking a highly skilled IT Support Technician, to fill an existing vacancy and join a talented and dedicated team in our Victoria BC, office location, to support lawyers engaged in complex Aboriginal, environmental, and natural resources litigation.
Our in office IT Support Technician offers assistance and support to users who are experiencing challenges or issues with their computer system and software. They also play a pivotal role in routine maintenance of our IT infrastructure, including the implementation of software updates, patches, and system upgrades.
Reporting to the Director of Technology & Infrastructure, the IT Support Technician plays a key role in delivering exceptional technical support and maintaining the firm's technology systems. The position is responsible for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, network, and user-access issues; supporting firm-wide technology initiatives; administering user accounts and access; coordinating onboarding and offboarding activities; and working closely with the firm's managed service provider to maintain reliable, secure, and efficient technology services. The successful candidate combines strong technical troubleshooting skills with excellent customer service, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Establish positive relationships with all Woodward departments and colleagues.
- Respond to user inquiries in a timely manner regarding computer software or hardware operation.
- Assess, analyze, identify, troubleshoot, and escalate technology issues to be resolved.
- Monitor and respond quickly and effectively to requests received through the IT helpdesk.
- Support users (internal and/or external) via telephone, email, or video chat.
- Work collaboratively with the firm's managed service provider and technology vendors to investigate, escalate, and resolve technical issues, and support infrastructure, security and technology improvement initiatives.
- Install, configure, test, maintain and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, software,
networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products.
- Support and troubleshoot for IT infrastructure such as workstations, servers, networks, printers, VPNs, and related hardware and software in a Microsoft environment.
- Improve IT systems and provide technical support or assistance to end-users.
- Support and administer Microsoft 365 services and other firm business applications, including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, and user access permissions.
- Configure, deploy, maintain, and track computer hardware, mobile devices, and related technology assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Coordinate employee onboarding and offboarding activities, including device preparation, account provisioning, access management, and equipment recovery.
- Train end-users on how to set up and make optimal use of new technologies.
- Adhere to IT policies, procedures, and guidelines to maintain routine systems security and access.
- Assist with maintaining technical documentation, knowledge base articles, standard operating procedures and system configuration records to support operational continuity.
Working Conditions & Equipment:
Fast paced, consistently changing office work environment, under the pressure of deadlines. Employees may use, lift, and sometimes carry standard office equipment within a general office work environment which may require sitting for prolonged periods of time and constant use of a computer. Hours may vary by position. Overtime may be required to accommodate workload indicative to the role.
As a condition of employment, staff members may be required to obtain (e.g., security clearance with the Industrial Security Directorate Division (ISDD) of Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC)).
Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
- College or other non-university certificate or diploma from a post-secondary program or equivalent in information technology, computer sciences,
or relevant field.
- 3 to 5 years of proven work experience as IT Support or relevant experience.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic technical issues.
- Familiarity with remote desktop applications and help desk systems or software.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to provide step-by-step technical help, both written and verbal.
- Knowledge of network security practices and anti-virus programs.

Working Conditions
Fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment requiring prolonged computer use and occasional lifting of office equipment, boxes and documents. Overtime may be required, as well as travel.
