We develop technology that supports both crewed and uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) across commercial marine, public safety, urban mobility, recreational boating, defence, research, and other marine applications.

The Opportunity

Marine Thinking is seeking a hands-on Embedded Hardware Engineering Technologist to support the design, development, integration, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing of electronic hardware and embedded systems.

The role has a strong focus on PCB design, electrical integration, hardware development, prototype builds, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support.

This is an prospect to work across the full hardware development lifecycle—from concept and prototype through testing and production—while contributing to innovative marine technology.

Key Responsibilities

· Support PCB design, layout, modification, and revision.

· Develop and maintain schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.

· Integrate PCBs, electronic components, sensors, wiring, power systems, and communications hardware.

· Build, modify, and test electronic prototypes and assemblies.

· Troubleshoot electrical and hardware issues using diagnostic and test equipment.

· Perform functional testing, validation, inspection, rework, and repair as required.

· Support the transition of prototypes into production-ready hardware.

· Provide hands-on technical support to manufacturing and production teams.

· Develop and maintain assembly instructions, work instructions,



and test procedures.

· Support component sourcing, substitutions, BOM changes, and engineering change processes.

· Work collaboratively with electrical, embedded, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and operations personnel.

Qualifications

· Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Embedded Systems, or a related discipline.

· Relevant hands-on experience in electronic hardware development, PCB design, electrical integration, or manufacturing may be considered in place of formal education.

· Experience with PCB design and layout tools.

· Strong understanding of electronic circuits, components, and electrical systems.

· Experience building and troubleshooting electronic prototypes and assemblies.

· Ability to read electrical schematics, PCB layouts, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

· Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and other electronic test equipment.

· Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Assets

· Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, sensors, or communications interfaces.

· Marine electronics or marine technology experience.

· Experience with autonomous systems, robotics, or USVs.

· Soldering, cable fabrication, crimping, wiring, or electronic assembly experience.

· Manufacturing or production experience.

· Experience with hardware testing and validation.

Additional Requirements
