We’ve been renting out our three large Muskoka lakeside cottages for about 20 years, and caringly shifting to a humanistic, teal organisation for the last ten. We excel by being unapologetically human - offering enlivening experiences and authentic connections to our guests and ourselves.

We're also at the beginning of a much larger journey. Our big, hairy, audacious goal is to grow thriving, humanistic businesses across the world - starting with this one!

THE OPPORTUNITY

Part-Time Kiddo & Doggy Friendly (with boundaries!) In-Person Muskoka, Ontario

The Humanistic Cottage Care contribution is made for energetic folks who thrive in a fast, physical rhythm, love bringing creativity to their work, enjoy root-problem solving, and want a space that genuinely embraces their whole self - kiddos and fur babies included! We don't do dominator management around here. Instead, we welcome self-aware co-creators who take real pride in bringing the magic of Trenanthia Cottage to life.

THE WORK SPLIT

Your core mission is to set the stage for breathtaking first impressions. While no two weeks are identical, your energy naturally flows across three key areas:

- 80% The Changeover Core: Fast-paced, high-standard, and deeply satisfying.



You’ll hold the 5-to-6-hour window between guest checkout and check-in to restore pizzazz, order, and visual beauty to the cottages.
- 10% Proactive Planning & Self-Managing Prep: Taking ownership of your time & space. You’ll have dedicated space to research, plan ahead, and prepare outcomes - ensuring we use our time, tools, and budget wisely so our cottages get the loving, thoughtful care they need.
- 10% Co-Creating: Dynamic hands-on projects that we often co-create together as a group, scheduled during quiet, empty days. This ranges from deep care and touch-ups to creative improvements - such as refinishing decks, painting, or co-building new cottage magic (including crazy loveliness like indoor tree houses!)

A Note on Kids & Fur Babies: We love wholeness and real-life community! Bringing your kiddos or pets along is warmly welcomed. Because the changeover window is quick and focused, we trust you to self-manage this balance so safety, flow, and high standards remain effortless. We don't micromanage how you structure your time - we trust you to make the magic happen.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

- Sparking Joy, Ease & Warmth: Welcoming, organising, and prepping our spaces with deep intention. You’ll help set the stage for WOWing first impressions, and cultivating delight through personal touches, thoughtful staging, and heartfelt comfort.
- Cultivating Lasting Connections: Creating spaces that feel so deeply cared for that guests long to return. You’ll keep guest amenities & equipment beautifully cared for, ensuring seamless continuity from one changeover to the next.
- Protecting Our Space & Each Other: Holding high standards for safety, cleanliness, and care. You’ll act swiftly when safety or maintenance needs arise, keeping communication open, transparent, and grounded in mutual support.
- Co-Creating & Evolving: Bringing your heart, creative energy, and hands-on ideas to cottage improvement projects as we continuously refine the beauty of what we offer.

QUALIFICATIONS

We care far more about your emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and life smarts than past job titles. To thrive as a co-creator here, you'll bring:

- Humanistic Connection & People-First Care: A genuine desire to build meaningful relationships - both within our team and with our broader community - along with a deep care for the guest experience that goes far beyond a standard changeover.
- Basic DIY (or a readiness to learn): A willingness to get comfortable with light repairs, planning, and hands-on projects, all guided by a sharp attention to detail.
- Root-Problem Solving: The natural ability to see solutions instead of obstacles, and the courage to take thoughtful action when something needs fixing.
- A Love for Continuous Learning: A natural curiosity and openness to absorbing new skills and insights, whether collaboratively with the team or independently on your own.

CO-SUPPORTING & BENEFITS

- Commitment: Part-time, permanent co-creator partnership. (Let's be the change we wish to see in the world!)
- Rhythm: Changeovers typically involve 2 to 3 six-hour windows each week (though if you’re FABulous and looking for one window per week, we can explore that together). Hospitality has its own natural flow, meaning our in-person rhythm generally falls on Fridays, Sundays, Mondays (including holidays/peak periods), and the occasional Thursday. If you thrive on flexibility and true control over your time, this structure allows you to build deep rest, personal space,



and real-life living directly into the rest of your week.
- Co-Creation: During quiet stretches at the cottages, we often all gather together for Monday-to-Friday working getaways with overnight stays to make magic together (and yes, your loved ones are always invited to share the magic!)
- Location: Our cottages are lakefront gems sprinkled across Gravenhurst and Bracebridge, Muskoka. Feel free to live wherever you feel most rooted, as long as you can comfortably travel to the cottages and feel confident traversing in all types of Muskoka weather. - Compensation: Starting from $20 per hour, caringly scaled to the depth of contribution you choose to offer. (When we build shared prosperity, we all rise together, whoot, whoot.)

This is a two-way exploration where we get to look at our real-world needs together, share ourselves authentically, and even dive into some hands-on co-working. It’s an organic process designed to ensure our values, culture, and dreams align, and that our unique offerings genuinely feed all of our souls.

A privacy note on our hiring process: As a teal collective, your application and our co-impression notes are shared and reviewed internally by our co-creators to ensure an aligned choice.
