Position Summary

SPCA Swift Current is seeking an organized, creative and community-minded individual to join our team as Community Outreach Coordinator.

Reporting to the Executive Director, this role helps strengthen the SPCA's connection with our community through volunteer engagement, fundraising and events, social media and digital communications, community partnerships and public outreach.

The ideal candidate is a robust communicator who enjoys working with people, can confidently coordinate multiple projects and is comfortable representing the SPCA both online and in the community.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate the SPCA volunteer program, including recruitment, orientation, scheduling, communication, engagement and recognition.
- Work with shelter staff to identify volunteer needs and connect volunteers with appropriate opportunities.
- Assist with the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, events and community initiatives.
- Coordinate event logistics, volunteers, vendors, supplies, sponsor recognition, setup and event-day activities with the support of the Administrative Assistant.
- Support routine donor and sponsor stewardship, recognition and follow-up.
- Manage day-to-day SPCA social media, including creating, scheduling and publishing engaging content.
- Develop and maintain a content calendar supporting adoptions, fundraising, events, volunteers and community education.
- Monitor social media engagement, comments and messages and respond or escalate as appropriate.
- Maintain routine website content and assist with newsletters and other digital communications with the support of the Administrative Assistant.
- Coordinate community presentations, school visits, tours,



information booths and outreach opportunities.
- Build positive relationships with community groups, businesses, volunteers and event partners.
- Represent SPCA Swift Current professionally at community events and activities.
- Provide front desk and public-facing coverage as required, including answering phones, greeting visitors and accepting donations and payments.
- Track volunteer, event, outreach and digital engagement information to support organizational reporting.
- Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers to support organizational priorities.

Qualifications

Required:

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and ability to coordinate multiple projects, events and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal and customer-service skills.
- Comfortable recruiting, coordinating and supporting volunteers.
- Experience or demonstrated ability with social media, digital communications and content creation.
- Comfortable speaking with community groups and representing an organization publicly.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff, volunteers and community partners.
- Strong judgment and ability to recognize when concerns or communications require escalation.
- Comfortable using social media platforms, email marketing tools, website systems and standard workplace technology.




- Valid Saskatchewan driver's licence and reliable transportation.
- Ability to assist with event setup, supplies and other moderately physical duties as required.

Preferred:

- Experience with fundraising, event coordination, volunteer management, community engagement or nonprofit organizations.
- Experience creating social media or digital content for an organization or business.
- Experience coordinating community partnerships, sponsorship fulfillment or public outreach.

Working Environment

This is a varied role combining office, shelter, event and community-based work. The successful candidate should be comfortable working around animals and interacting regularly with members of the public, volunteers, donors, businesses and community partners.

This position includes weekday, weekend and occasional evening work based on shelter operations, events, fundraising activities, community initiatives and organizational needs.
