Position Overview

The Community Liaison is responsible for developing, delivering. and ongoing collaboration with key community partners in connection with the YMCA Newcomer Connections department. This position supports newcomers in achieving their employment goals through individualized coaching, employment readiness support, employer engagement, community partnerships, referrals, and case management while contributing to positive employment and settlement outcomes.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

- Provide individualized employment support to newcomers through coaching, guidance, and follow-up sessions.
- Assist clients in developing employment action plans that align with their skills, experience, and career goals.
- Support clients with job search preparation, including resumes, cover letters, interview preparation, and job search strategies.
- Facilitate employment and orientation workshops that enhance employability and workplace readiness.
- Manage client caseloads and maintain ongoing case management to support successful employment outcomes.
- Conduct referrals to internal and external programs and services that support employment, training, and career development goals.
- Develop and maintain relationships with employers and community partners to create opportunities for newcomer employment and workforce integration.
- Provide labour market information and career pathway guidance, including support with credential recognition and licensing processes.
- Collaborate with settlement and employment team members to ensure coordinated client support and service delivery.




- Maintain accurate client records, service notes, and program data in organizational databases and reporting systems.
- Monitor, track, and report on client outcomes and program performance metrics as required.
- Participate in outreach activities, community events, and employer engagement initiatives that promote newcomer employment and community integration.

- Builds positive interaction both internally and externally to achieve work-related goals;
- Models appropriate behaviors in line with the YMCA of of Southwestern New Brunswick's mission, vision and values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behavior with staff, volunteers and members;
- Understands and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism and imparts this knowledge and beliefs upon staff, volunteers and members;
- Self-manages personal professional development.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

- A bachelor's degree or college diploma in employment coaching, career development, or any related fields such as psychology, social services or education, HR recruitment, etc., is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of work experience in a cross-cultural environment
- Heightened sensitivity to the needs of our newcomer clients
- Exceptional oral and written communication skill
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
- In-depth knowledge of and advanced user status of MS Office products
- Adaptability and willingness to take on new challenges
- Confident presentation skills
- Approachable and possessing a client-centric solid attitude
- Heightened sensitivity to the needs of our newcomer clients, especially youth
- Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work hours
- Must be fluent in the English language; proficiency in other languages is a great asset

Working Conditions

- As a full-time YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick staff person. Your hours of work and location may be adjusted due to programming needs. There is no guarantee of the number of hours worked within a work week.
- The YMCA of Southwestern Recent Brunswick has a Joint Health and Safety Committee which meets monthly to discuss health and safety within the workplace. Questions or concerns about your workplace must be brought forward to committee members.
- In this role, you will be required to work in an environment which is often busy with high levels of noise.
- As a YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick staff person, you are responsible for your travel to and from work.
- You are responsible for the member/client’s safety daily. You will be required to perform first aid and CPR when and if necessary and you are certified to do so.
- You will be responsible for following and abiding by YMCA Service that Shine Standards, ensuring a clean and well-maintained center is required by all staff persons.
