DHC Communications Inc. is looking for an Entry-Level Telecommunications Installer to join our team in Nelson, BC.

No telecommunications experience? That's okay. We are willing to train the right person.

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with their hands, is mechanically inclined, reliable, and interested in learning a skilled trade. This is an entry-level position with the opportunity to learn from experienced telecommunications installers and develop a long-term career in the industry.

What You'll Be Doing

Working alongside our experienced installers, you will learn how to:

- Install, terminate, and test structured data cabling
- Install and splice fibre optic cabling
- Install cable pathways, racks, cabinets, and telecommunications equipment
- Install and maintain access control, CCTV, and intrusion systems
- Use cable testing equipment and learn basic troubleshooting
- Read basic drawings, plans and installation instructions
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders and installation equipment
- Set up, clean and maintain organized job sites
- Load and organize tools, equipment and materials
- Complete required job documentation and daily time entries
- Follow DHC and customer safety requirements
- Work at a variety of commercial, industrial, and construction sites
- Travel to customer locations and occasionally work out of town

As your skills develop, you will be given opportunities to take on more responsibility and learn more advanced telecommunications installation and troubleshooting.

Who We're Looking For

You do not need previous telecommunications experience.

We are looking for someone who:

- Is mechanically inclined and comfortable using tools
- Can take direction and learn from experienced installers




- Pays attention to detail and takes pride in their work
- Works well as part of a team
- Communicates professionally with coworkers and customers
- Is comfortable working on ladders and in different work environments
- Is physically capable of performing installation work, including lifting and carrying tools, equipment and materials
- Has a valid driver's licence and acceptable driving record
- Understands the importance of working safely

Experience in construction, electrical, trades, labour, mechanical work or using hand and power tools would be an asset but is not required.
