Location: Brantford, Ontario

We are seeking a dependable, self-reliant and responsible Production Supervisor with strong leadership skills. The position requires the ability to manage, lead, coach and mentor a team of operators. Ensure day-to-day safe, effective, efficient and environmentally sound operation of production facility through monitoring and development of operations team and coordination of activities with other plant and corporate departments. Monitors production operations in order to recognize trends, opportunities to enhance procedures, potential problems, safety issues or other factors that might impact production.

Key Accountabilities:

Safety

- Ensure employees know and follow safety policies.
- Manage and ensure use of safety supplies / PPE.
- Participate at the monthly safety meetings.
- Drive the safety culture on the production floor.
- Maintain a good culture of housekeeping on the production floor.
- Complete S.T.O.P. audits and observations and Hazard ID’s.
- Intervene and educate whenever unsafe behaviour is observed by employees or visitors.

Quality

- Enforce all ISO 9001 procedures on the production floor.
- Ensure employees are qualified to perform in process QC tests. Review test results.
- Ensure scanning is used to prevent incorrect raw material use.
- Partake in the formal handover of job books prior to job start and physically check packaging, labelling and product prior to releasing the material to the logistics department.
- Ensure that job directives as supplied by the process engineering department are followed.

Productivity:

- Train/audit to ensure employees are following work instructions from job binder.
- Develop team members abilities to operate the various production processes properly, as per ISO 9001.
- Ensure proper employee behaviours to mitigate waste of labour,



materials and capacity by running high production rates, shortening clean ups, reduce and re-use blendback.
- Use available tools to ensure good outcomes such as historical charts, logbook past run review, directives.
- Manage employee vacation and overtime requests to ensure shift coverage.
- Support new product development and new business development activities.

Administration:

- Complete daily logbook/updatemaster.
- Pre-close jobs in a timely fashion, take direction of the production coordinator in case of discrepancies.
- Input daily labour and machine hours in SAP.
- Review / approve employee attendance in UKG Ready database for your team.

Personnel:

- Conduct yearly hourly performance reviews, including previous year job performance, goal setting and training needs under the guidance of the production manager.
- Implement Performance Improvement Plans, if needed.
- Consult upper management on recent hire and termination decisions.
- Select all manufacturing personnel and secure approval of plant manager.
- Apply company policies.
- Manage vacation schedules, maximizing productivity while minimizing the need for overtime.
- Ensure proper training of all direct reports within the shift.
- Coach direct reports, prepare them for their next promotion.

Internal Communications

· Communicating with Logistics, quality, maintenance, production, plant management and HR departments.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degrees in Chemical Engineering preferred.
- Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of plastic compounding including materials and equipment.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to understand, interpret and implement company of Policies & Procedures.
- Computer Skills: ability to use ERP systems, Microsoft office suite.
- Working experience in an ISO 9001 environment.
- Experience with UKG Ready HRIS system considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and formal safety programs, preferable S.T.O.P.
- Strong problem solving skills, organizational skills, team leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability to function in a fast paced, complex manufacturing environment.
- Balanced personality, ability to remain focused and calm under pressure.

Pay: $72,000.00-$94,000.00 per year
