Job Summary

International Process Supplies Ltd. (IPS) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to design pressure vessels and associated static equipment for oil and gas and process industry projects.

The successful candidate must have strong practical experience with PV Elite for pressure vessel calculations and AutoCAD for engineering drawings. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licensure through Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) and knowledge of SolidWorks are preferred.

Responsibilities

- Design pressure vessels, separators, drums, and columns in accordance with ASME Section VIII, Division 1, and project specifications.
- Prepare and review mechanical design calculations using PV Elite, including internal and external pressure, nozzle reinforcement, vessel supports, and wind and seismic loads.
- Prepare and revise general arrangement drawings, fabrication details, nozzle schedules, and bills of materials using AutoCAD.
- Determine required thicknesses for shells and heads and evaluate nozzles, flanges, skirts, saddles, and other vessel components.
- Verify consistency between mechanical calculations, equipment datasheets, drawings, and client requirements.
- Address material specifications, corrosion allowances, minimum design metal temperature, welding, heat treatment, examination, and pressure testing requirements.
- Coordinate with process, piping, structural, procurement, and fabrication teams to resolve technical issues.
- Review vendor documents, respond to client comments,



and support fabrication activities.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in pressure vessel mechanical design for oil and gas, petrochemical, or process facilities.
- Strong hands-on proficiency in PV Elite and AutoCAD.
- Working knowledge of ASME Section VIII, Division 1, and relevant material, welding, and examination standards.
- Ability to prepare and check pressure vessel calculations and detailed engineering drawings.
- Practical understanding of pressure vessel fabrication, welding, inspection, and testing.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies between calculations and drawings.
- Clear communication and the ability to manage technical deliverables and project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

- Skilled Engineer (P.Eng.) licence through PEO.
- SolidWorks knowledge, including 3D modelling of pressure vessels and components.
- Experience with stainless steel, clad vessels, and equipment for sour service.
- Experience supporting fabrication shops and reviewing manufacturing documentation.
