About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading company in the heavy industrial construction sector, focusing on large-scale projects. They’re currently looking for a Construction Manager to oversee night shift operations, ensuring project milestones are met safely and efficiently. This role is crucial to keep the project on schedule, especially with overnight work that supports continuous progress.
The position offers an on-site, night shift schedule typically from early evening into early morning, supporting a team of about 12 on-site staff. The role involves coordinating construction activities, managing safety protocols, and solving daily operational issues. Per diems and accommodations are provided. Hourly pay rate depending on experience.
What You'll Be Doing
- Oversee night shift construction activities during a critical industrial shutdown.
- Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and electrical contractors to address field issues.
- Escalate technical concerns and liaise with engineering teams when design clarification is required.
- Monitor construction progress and communicate shift updates to project leadership.
- Support planning and execution of complex lifts, installations, and equipment-related work.
- Identify and resolve site challenges to minimize schedule disruptions.
- Maintain strong communication between day and night shift teams.
- Ensure work is completed safely and in accordance with project requirements.
What You Bring
- Extensive experience (25-30 years) in heavy industry trades such as millwrighting, ironworking, or welding; supervisory experience preferred.
- Proven leadership skills, especially in managing night shift or similar operational environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to relay complex issues clearly.
- Strong field presence and ability to resolve onsite challenges confidently.
- Technical knowledge relevant to construction processes and safety standards.
- Ability to work independently during overnight hours and coordinate with international teams, especially in Australia or Austria.
- Formal trades training or equivalent professional experience.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle is a strong asset.
Compensation
The estimated base pay rate for this position is CAD $110 to $145 per hour as of the posting date. Actual compensation within this range will be determined based on factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and training. Please note that this range reflects the base pay rate only and does not include any applicable bonuses or benefits.
