We are currently seeking a Manager, Accounting to join our Finance department to work out of our Kitchener office.

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager is a senior member of the Finance team responsible for the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the organization’s accounting, month-end close and financial reporting processes. The role provides hands-on leadership across general accounting, work in progress (WIP), management reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, compliance, audit readiness and finance systems.

This position is intentionally designed as a controller-track role. The Accounting Manager is expected to operate with a strong controllership mindset - maintaining effective financial controls, challenging unusual results, ensuring balance sheet integrity, improving processes and systems, and providing reliable financial insight to management. As capability and organizational needs develop, the role is expected to assume broader Controller-level responsibilities.

Responsibilities

- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accurate and timely accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Oversee general accounting operations, including journal entries, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, and General Ledger integrity.
- Manage Work in Progress (WIP), project accounting, revenue analysis, reserves, and related financial performance metrics.
- Prepare and analyze monthly management reports, financial statements,



forecasts, budgets, and key performance indicators to support business decision-making.
- Partner with operational leaders, including Project Managers, Division Managers and Sector Directors, to provide financial insight, support project performance reviews, and identify risks and opportunities.
- Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes, including consolidation, variance analysis, and planning support.
- Maintain strong internal controls, ensure regulatory compliance, and support audit readiness and financial governance initiatives.
- Lead the annual external audit process and serve as a key liaison with auditors and external stakeholders.
- Act as a subject matter expert for financial systems, supporting process improvements, reporting enhancements, and system optimization initiatives.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to Finance team members while fostering collaboration across the organization.
- Support the Director, Finance and progressively assume broader controllership responsibilities.
- Other related duties, as assigned.

Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- 5-8 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including meaningful experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, reconciliations, estimates/reserves and audit support.
- CPA designation in good standing is required.
- Prior supervisory, team-lead or management experience, with demonstrated ability to coach staff and coordinate work across functions.
- Robust knowledge of Canadian accounting and financial reporting principles; experience in professional services, engineering, consulting, project-based or similar environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of WIP, project accounting, revenue analysis, AR aging,



reserves, DSO and other working-capital metrics.
- Experience with ERP systems is required; Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations experience is strongly preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Power BI or comparable reporting/analytics tools.
- Experience working with external auditors and preparing lender or other external financial reporting packages is an asset.

Salary Range

- $84,000-$105,000 annually
