Are you interested in being at the forefront of a current offshore renewable energy sector in Nova Scotia, Canada? The Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Energy Regulator (CNSOER) is seeking an Advisor, Engagement to support meaningful engagement with Indigenous groups and right holders, the fishing sector, industry, government, the public, and other interested stakeholders as offshore renewable energy and petroleum-related energy exploration and development advances.

The CNSOER is located in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and is the independent joint agency of the Governments of Canada and Nova Scotia responsible for the regulation of renewable energy and oil and gas exploration and development activities that take place in the Canada-Nova Scotia offshore area.

Reporting to the Director, Communications and Engagement, you will manage the day-to-day engagement activities that inform CNSOER regulatory processes and initiatives. You will build and maintain relationships with Indigenous groups and rights holders, the fishing sector, industry, government, and other interested stakeholders, coordinate engagement activities, provide strategic advice, and development and administration of the CNSOER’s Participant Funding Program.

The responsibilities include:

· Develop and implement engagement plans and activities that support regulatory initiatives.

· Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous groups and rights holders, the fishing sector, industry, government, and other interested stakeholders.

· Plan and facilitate meetings, workshops, information sessions, and other engagement activities.

· Provide advice on engagement strategies, opportunities, risks, and rights holder and stakeholder issues.

· Monitor and evaluate engagement outcomes and recommend improvements.

· Prepare engagement reports, briefing materials, and correspondence.

· Maintain engagement records, contact databases, and tracking systems.

· Lead the continued development and administration of the CNSOER’s Partcipant Funding Program.





The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications and competencies:

· University/college degree in public relations, communications, public administration, community development, business, or a related field.

· Three to five years of progressively responsible experience in Indigenous relations, stakeholder engagement, community relations, communications, or a related field.

· Strong understanding of engagement best practices and principles, facilitation techniques, engagement and consultation processes, and relationship management practices.

· Experience developing and implementing engagement plans involving diverse stakeholders.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

· Experience engaging with Indigenous groups and rights holders is strongly preferred.

· International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) certification, experience with regulatory processes, fishing sector engagement, or participant funding programs are considered assets.

Compensation: Commensurate with qualifications.
