Position: Hydraulic Technician

Reports To: Service Supervisor

Location: On-site Manufacturing Facility at 13111 159 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5V 1H6

Position Type: Full-time

Shift: Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 2:15 pm

About the Role

The Hydraulic Technician performs the precision repair and manufacturing of hydraulic cylinders, ensuring all work meets rigorous customer specifications, statutory regulations, and quality standards. This role relies on expert technical interpretation of job travellers and drawings to execute assembly, disassembly, testing, and troubleshooting while maintaining a safe, clean, and effective working environment.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

· Assemble hydraulic cylinders according to engineering drawings and specifications and rebuild repaired cylinders following established repair protocols.

· Disassemble, clean, and thoroughly inspect hydraulic cylinders, utilizing precision measuring tools to diagnose root causes of defects, wear, or malfunctions.

· Conduct rigorous pressure testing on completed cylinders to verify structural integrity and operational performance.

· Interpret complex technical drawings, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to establish correct dimensions, tolerances, operational sequences, and setup requirements.

· Prepare detailed technical reports supporting root-cause analysis and failure determination.

· Collaborate closely with supervisors, coordinators, and shop personnel to streamline task assignments and proactively resolve quality discrepancies.

· Adhere strictly to all corporate, environmental, quality, and health and safety policies and procedures.

· Meet and exceed production schedules, delivery milestones, and timeline targets.





· Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.

· Perform additional manufacturing and maintenance duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

· Secondary school diploma, GED or equivalent required.

· Journeyman Certification (Hydraulic Technician, Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, or recognized equivalent trade qualification) is highly preferred.

· At least 3 years of extensive hands-on hydraulics experience within a heavy manufacturing or repair shop environment.

· Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting complex engineering drawings, schematics, and geometric tolerances.

· Expert command of precision measuring instruments, including internal and external micrometers, depth gauges, dial indicators, and precision scales.

· Superior attention to detail with proven mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.

· Strong written and verbal English communication skills.

· High level of organization, autonomy, and self-motivation.

· Adaptability to a dynamic shop floor environment with shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and unexpected technical challenges.
