Toyota Tsusho Canada, Inc., (TTCI) located in Cambridge and Woodstock, ON, is currently looking for a Compliance Specialist to join our ever-growing team. The Compliance Specialist is responsible for providing compliance support for the importation and exportation of manufacturing related items, support corporate initiatives for ISO, IATF, and supply chain related activities.

The successful candidate will help to develop and implement regulatory and compliance related policies, support with corporate regulatory training and provide technical guidance to business units and new hires on the import/export requirements.

The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, time management, the ability to work alone, as well as in a team setting, maintain confidentiality, have excellent problem-solving skills, and a positive attitude.

Job Duties (non-inclusive):

- Ensuring Toyota Tsusho Canada, Inc. and it's sister companies perform business functions in compliance with all Federal, Provincial and Local legal requirements for the import and export of goods.
- Ensures Corporate Compliance requirements as set out by our Head office are followed and communicated.
- Interpret new and evolving trade laws/regulations and assess business impact across affected units, with emphasis on USMCA/CUSMA, tariff changes, and related compliance obligations.
- Monitor and brief leadership on Canada–U.S. trade actions (new/retaliatory tariffs, surtaxes, exclusions, remission orders), providing rapid impact/risk assessments and mitigation plans.
- Manage/coordinate filings for tariff relief (exclusion requests, duty remission/drawback, refunds)



with CBSA/Finance Canada and CBP as applicable.
- Anticipate and identify changes to compliance requirements related to import/export and notify Head Office of those changes.
- Act as the primary contact for the approved Broker of Record; Local, Provincial and Federal Government as it pertains to Compliance related issues.
- Investigate, review, and assess any concerns from the approved Broker of Record; Governmental Agencies; Internal or External Audit as it relates to Customs Compliance or Valuation requirements.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures; Policies; Compliance Training Manual; Training Notes and handouts for all team members, including Management requirements.
- Provide new hire training and ongoing support to other departments on new internal or legal compliance requirements.
- Support Business Units by collecting and coordinating internal compliance data, including assisting team members with questions or concerns regarding the compliance processes, legality of processes, and documents required.
- Attend Business Unit meetings on a regular basis to assist with determining new compliance requirements.

Other Duties:

- Internal Audit of Imports and Exports to ensure ongoing compliance to internal and external compliance requirements.
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) support including attending meetings and assisting with the management of ISO related documents to ensure compliance with the ISO program.
- Provide assistance/support or lead on other compliance related programs as needed included, but not limited to IATF 16949, Supplier Code of Conduct and Social Responsibility (SCCSR), CTPAT, Clean supply chain requirements, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

- Certified Customs Specialist designation
- Proven experience with USMCA/CUSMA, including rules of origin,



country-of-origin marking, and documentation/certification controls
- Demonstrated expertise in tariff classification and valuation, with hands-on tariffs experience due to constant changes in regulatory laws
- Strong ability to interpret new trade laws and provide detailed impact assessments and guidance to business units
- Strong contracts/Incoterms acumen to operationalize tariff pass-through and allocate risk with suppliers/customers
- Prior experience working with a Customs Broker (e.g., Farrow) is preferred
- Automotive sector experience with USMCA/CUSMA compliance is preferred
- Must be available to travel to our Woodstock facilities if needed
- Must be willing to work in the office daily during the training period. A hybrid work schedule is available upon approval following the training period.
- Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in a Customs Specialist / Compliance role required
- Must be able to work at a rapid pace in an environment where priorities change rapidly
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with people at various levels of the organization
