The Welding Shop Calgary – Calgary, AB

The Welding Shop Calgary is hiring Structural Steel & Miscellaneous Metals Installers to join our field team working on the current Scotia Place project in downtown Calgary.

We are looking for experienced installers who are comfortable working with both structural steel and miscellaneous metals on a large commercial construction project.

Responsibilities

Work will include the installation of:

- Structural steel beams, columns and framing
- Steel stairs and landings
- Handrails and guardrails
- Access ladders
- Miscellaneous steel framing and supports
- Angles, brackets and connection plates
- Embeds and miscellaneous steel components
- Bolted and welded connections
- Other miscellaneous metals as required throughout the project

Installers will also be responsible for:

- Reading structural and fabrication/shop drawings
- Field layout and measurements
- Rigging and hoisting steel into position
- Using aerial work platforms and working at heights
- Field fitting and modifying steel when required
- Coordinating with site supervision, crane operators and other trades
- Identifying and reporting field issues
- Following all project and company safety requirements

Qualifications

We are looking for individuals who:

- Have previous structural steel and/or miscellaneous metals installation experience
- Have experience installing stairs,



railings and miscellaneous steel
- Can read structural and shop drawings
- Are comfortable working at heights
- Have experience with rigging and hoisting
- Are capable of field fitting, drilling, bolting and welding steel
- Are dependable and able to work effectively as part of a crew
- Take pride in quality workmanship and productivity
- Can work safely in a fast-paced commercial construction environment

Ironworker, welding, rigging, fall-protection and aerial-work-platform certifications or experience are considered strong assets.
