Community Housing Worker – Part Time

Position Type: Part Time - 4 positions available

Location: Coquitlam

Compensation: From $27.53 per hour as per Community Living Collective Agreement

Schedules: 16 - 24 hours weekly, class 4 driver's license required.

Applicants without a current/valid class 4 driver's license are encouraged to apply with the commitment that if successful, a class 4 driver's license must be obtained within probationary period upon start of this position.

- Position 1: Permanent

16 hours - Start Date: ASAP

Sunday - 7am - 3pm

Monday- 3pm - 11pm

- Position 2: Permanent

20 hours - Start date: June 8, 2026

Tuesday - Friday - 4pm - 9pm

- Position 3: Permanent

24 hours - Start date: June 9, 2026

Tuesday - Friday - 3pm - 9pm

- Position 4: Permanent

16 hours - Start Date: June 6, 2026

Saturday - Sunday - 10am - 6pm

Community Housing Workers are expected to work according to pre-determined schedules as per program needs.

About YOU:

- You hold a solid commitment to protecting the Human Rights of our persons served. This commitment comes from your grounded philosophy of supporting people with challenges living and working in the community.
- You hold a degree or certification in human services (or related discipline) or you have an acceptable combination of education/experience.
- You have experience working with people who live with physical, mental or social barriers.
- You can be the creative spark or productive dynamo in a team; having an emphasis on leadership, self-initiative, patience, maturity and tact.
- You are a confident writer, speaker and are rarely intimidated in any conversation.
- You are a great organizer; deadlines are up-to-date on your calendar or meals are prepped for the week.
- You aren't a tech guru, but you can help your grandma understand how to send emails. Learning new technology and data platforms doesn’t daunt you.
- You know your way around the local community, having knowledge of the resources and services available.

You MUST have the following:

- Emergency First Aid and CPR level A, B, or C + AED
- TB test Performed within BC
- A clear Criminal Record Check for Children and Vulnerable Adults (a consent form will be provided upon hire)
- Class 4 driver’s license
- Experience with supporting individuals who require behaviour supports.
- Must be comfortable working alone in a 1:1 setting

YOUR Typical Day:

- Participates in the development, implementation, and ongoing documentation of the person served’s Plan of Care (e.g. Health Care Plan, Behavioural Support Plans, Individuals Support Plans, etc.).
- Identifies a person served’s interests and abilities, including cultural and religious factors.




- Identifies community events and opportunities that match an individual’s interests and which provide opportunities for social connection and belonging.
- Facilitates persons served access and participation in the community.
- Facilitates relationships and connections wherein persons served expand their personal support networks and find new and meaningful relationships.
- Facilitates growth and independence of persons served so that it reflects natural levels of social interdependency.
- Works towards achieving Community Engagement goals.
- Maintains care plans persons served and other related records.
- Identifies, analyses and deals with urgent or emergency situations and ensures that the health and safety of persons served is closely monitored and risks mitigated. Reports all concerns to SSW/Team Leader in a timely manner.
- Is knowledgeable of and encourages each person served to develop and expand his/her methods of communication.
- Ensures that meals are nutritious, varied and respect persons served’s preferences.
- Ensures that the health needs of individuals are monitored including ensuring regular medical and dental check-ups, ensuring relevant plans are followed as directed by the care plans, ensuring that current and appropriate documentation is maintained with regards to health needs. Ensures that preventative safety and health care techniques are practiced on an on-going basis.
- Participates in all aspects of the Health and Safety Program including safety and emergency procedures, in order to provide a safe work environment. Reports all concerns to the SSW/Team Leader.
- Participates in the maintenance of program property and vehicles and completes related documentation.
- Maintains financial records of persons served and program according to established procedures.
- Performs other duties as required.
