The Youth Development Worker will provide direct care and support to children aged 0-18 with various needs. Collaboration with a team is essential, along with ensuring a safe and secure environment for the children.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Monitor and support the individuals’ health and well being and respond to emergencies.
- Complete daily administration and documentation for medications and health care practices.
- Maintain accurate documentation.
- Meal preparation and housekeeping duties, which may include maintenance of household items.
- Conduct nightly fire and security checks and report workplace hazards promptly.
- Assist and support residents in completing their routines in accordance with their set goals.
- Support residents as may be required with their AM routine including bathing, grooming, meal preparation, etc.
- Maintain positive communication style with all residents, professional services, families, and association personnel.
- Provide transportation as needed.
- Comply to WHIMS and Health & Safety Act standards.
- Maintain a safe work environment by wearing the proper protective devices to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.
- Maintain professionalism and safety in the workplace by avoiding activities that could lead to accidents or disruptions such as pranks, contests, feats of strength, unnecessary running, or rough and boisterous conduct.
- Completes health and safety inspections as required.
- Participate in training and educational activities.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION:





- Candidate should have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education.
- Minimum of 2 years experience working with children with developmental disabilities and behaviour management.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, patience, creativity, flexibility, compassion, and sensitivity towards individuals and have a passion working with children.
- Current Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training preferred.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers license and a clean Drivers abstract.
- RCMP Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable and Intervention Record Check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Position entails 30-48 hours per week.
- Hourly wage for this position is $26.00.
- Employees are entitled to health and dental benefits.
- Travel within the region required.
- Intermittent physical activity including walking, standing, sitting, and lifting.
- Smoke-free setting and undergoes regular health and safety inspections to ensure compliance.
- Complete necessary documentation in accordance with our Policies and Procedures, as well as the requirements set forth by the Ministry of Community and Social Services requirements.
