Swan Lake Market & Garden is looking for an experienced and dependable Head Cashier to provide hands-on leadership to our front-end team.

This is a working leadership position. The Head Cashier works alongside our cashiers while taking responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of the front end, including cashier scheduling and breaks, labour utilization, training, cash-handling standards, customer service and team productivity.

Our business is highly seasonal, so the position requires someone who can adapt staffing and duties as customer traffic changes throughout the year. At busy times, the priority is ensuring customers receive fast and friendly service. During quieter periods, the Head Cashier is expected to make effective use of available labour by redirecting staff to cleaning, stocking, other customer-service counters and useful work throughout the store.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and support the cashier team during daily operations
- Prepare cashier schedules and manage staffing within established labour-hour targets
- Coordinate breaks, coverage and workflow according to customer traffic
- Work actively as a cashier alongside the team
- Train and coach cashiers in POS operation, cash handling and customer service
- Ensure cash-handling and till procedures are followed accurately
- Assist with cash discrepancies and routine front-end problem solving
- Train cashiers to communicate current promotions, sales, events and other relevant store information to customers
- Keep employees productive during quieter periods through cleaning, stocking and other assigned duties
- Coordinate cashier support for other service areas, including our Deli and seasonal Ice Cream counter
- Handle routine customer concerns professionally
- Support grocery and other Inside Store operations as required
- Maintain a clean,



organized and welcoming front-end environment

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate is an experienced cashier, supervisor or retail team lead who enjoys working directly with both customers and employees.

You should be comfortable taking responsibility for a busy front end, making practical decisions about staffing and workflow, coaching employees, handling cash accurately and stepping in wherever needed.

Strong candidates will bring:

- Previous retail cashier or front-end experience
- Experience supervising, training or leading employees
- Strong cash-handling and attention-to-detail skills
- Confidence working with POS systems
- Good judgment and problem-solving ability
- Strong customer-service and communication skills
- The ability to organize people and priorities during busy periods
- An understanding of the importance of managing labour efficiently

Pay: $20.00-$23.00 per hour
