What You Will Do
The Mail Clerk plays a key role in supporting the efficient movement of information, materials, and supplies across TTC locations. Reporting to the Manager, Printing Services, this position is responsible for mail distribution, courier services, transportation of lost articles, and delivery of packages and printed materials. Working independently along established routes, the Mail Clerk helps ensure the timely, secure, and accurate delivery of business-critical items while providing excellent customer service and maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
In this role, you will:
- Collect, sort, process, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, packages, payroll materials, and other business-critical documents across TTC locations according to established schedules.
- Safely operate a TTC vehicle to transport time-sensitive, confidential, valuable, and registered materials throughout the City of Toronto.
- Provide courier and delivery services, including maintaining delivery records, obtaining proof of delivery, and ensuring materials reach intended recipients accurately and on time.
- Transport lost articles from TTC divisions to the Lost Articles Office, ensuring all items are handled with care, security, and accountability.
- Support Printing Services by printing, loading, transporting, and distributing printed materials, packages, and supplies to departments across the organization.
- Organize delivery routes, sort materials, and prepare shipments to support efficient and reliable distribution operations.
- Liaise with employees and departments across the TTC to coordinate deliveries and respond to routine service requests.
- Operate mail processing equipment and maintain knowledge of applicable postal regulations, procedures, and delivery practices.
- Provide backup support to other Mail Clerks and assist with additional departmental responsibilities as required.
- Work outdoors and in varying weather conditions as needed to fulfill operational requirements.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, customer service, inclusion, and respectful workplace practices in all aspects of the role.

What Qualifications Do You Bring?
- Completion of secondary school education or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- A valid, non-probationary Ontario Class G driver's licence in good standing. A licence in good standing is defined as a driver's abstract free of convictions, demerit points, suspensions, collisions, and reportable accidents.
- Ability to successfully complete TTC vehicle operation training and Defensive Driving training for non-revenue operations.
- Experience delivering mail, packages, materials, or providing courier services in a customer-focused environment is considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, follow established schedules, and manage multiple deliveries efficiently.
- Ability to lift, carry, and transport mail, parcels, and boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including frequent walking, standing, and stair climbing throughout the workday.
- Strong attention to detail and visual accuracy when sorting mail, processing deliveries, and meeting established service standards.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive materials with discretion and professionalism.
- Basic computer proficiency and experience using common office technology and equipment.
- Knowledge of Toronto roadways, TTC locations, and facilities is considered an asset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide excellent customer service and work effectively with employees across the organization.
