About Reindeer Education

Reindeer Education Learning Center is an academic and enrichment education center serving students in South Surrey and White Rock. We provide academic support, English, Math, French, music, and enrichment programs for students from elementary school through high school.

As our students increasingly plan for competitive high school programs, Canadian and U.S. universities, and future career pathways, we are expanding our academic advising services.

We are looking for 1–2 experienced Academic & University Planning Advisors who understand the North American education system and can provide personalized academic and post-secondary planning for students and families.

Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have solid knowledge of the Canadian and/or U.S. secondary school and university systems, including high school course selection, graduation requirements, prerequisites, university admission requirements, application timelines, and program selection.

You will work with students and parents to develop long-term academic plans from middle school/high school through university admission.

This position is especially suitable for someone with experience in:

- High school academic advising
- University admissions counseling
- School counseling
- College/university admissions
- Academic planning
- International student advising
- Canadian or U.S. university applications

Key ResponsibilitiesAcademic Planning

- Review students' academic backgrounds, interests, strengths, and long-term goals.
- Develop individualized academic plans for Grades 7–12.
- Advise students on high school course selection and academic pathways.
- Explain graduation requirements, prerequisites, credits, and course planning.




- Help students understand the relationship between high school courses, grades, extracurricular activities, and university admission requirements.
- Identify academic gaps and recommend appropriate courses, tutoring, or enrichment programs.

University & College Planning

- Guide students through Canadian and U.S. university and college admission systems.
- Research and explain admission requirements for different programs and institutions.
- Help students build realistic university lists based on academic profile, interests, and career goals.
- Advise students on program selection, prerequisites, application timelines, and required documents.
- Explain differences between Canadian and U.S. university admissions.
- Support students and parents throughout the application and decision-making process.

Student & Parent Consultation

- Conduct one-on-one academic planning consultations.
- Communicate clearly with parents regarding academic progress and future pathways.
- Help families understand different education and career options.
- Maintain professional and organized student planning records.
- Provide follow-up recommendations and action plans.

QualificationsRequired

- Strong knowledge of the Canadian and/or U.S. high school education system.
- Strong understanding of university/college admission requirements.
- Experience with academic advising, university admissions, school counseling, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to explain complicated education systems in a clear and practical way.




- Strong organizational and research skills.

- AP / IB programs
- SAT / ACT requirements and policies

- Competitive programs such as Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Health Sciences, Nursing, etc.
- International student pathways
